Zentangle® Athitz, Quandary, and an Inchie

This week, over at the Diva Challenge, it is a UMT (use my tangle) week. The tangle chosen is brought to you by Eleanor Holt, and the tangle is named Athitz. This was so much fun (I always loved crosshatching) that I got carried away on my practice file card and didn't want to do a "normal" Zentangle tile after that. So, I pulled out a standard tile and played with some distress inks and spray acrylics and then used what happened as a base for a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art). I added Mooka and a bit of Fescu. When complete, I sprayed it all with Perfect Pearls for some glimmer.

For Square One, on Facebook, the tangle of the week was Quandary which I embellished with some Laced and some cones.

And, finally, for Every Inchie Monday, the prompt was "kitchen". When I thought about kitchen, it brought back memories of those cold snowy days that we insisted on going out to play in. We would come home freezing, wet, and hungry. I could often see steam on the window as I was racing home knowing my mom was brewing up a huge pot of homemade chicken noodle soup. Wonderful memories.

Thanks for all your comments. I truly appreciate each one :)

  8. Your tile is pretty. I wish I had all those wonderful sprays (see them on YouTube all the time). Homemade chicken noodle soup sounds good, great inchie. Your Square One tile is good also. You did a great job with quandary.

    1. Thank you, JL. I make a lot of my sprays from Easter egg dye kits when they go clearance after Easter. Just add some hot water and a bit of vinegar and put into a small misting bottle. I use old hair spray containers. They work fine and, if you don't water them down too much, are quite vibrant too.

    1. Sandra, I have to play with Quandary on scratch paper first every time I use it. I can't follow the stepouts as written so I have to remind myself each time how I figured out how to do it. Remember that Zentangle is supposed to be easy and relaxing. If a certain tangle is causing you grief, choose another :)

  10. A wonderful Post, Jean. Your Diva Challenge Tile's, "Color-'Splotion" is spectacular. Athitzi so ably pulls your mighty Mooka's into a delightful Tile. Wonderful Square one Tile. Quandary is my Nemesis. I can't keep that one together to save me. You did great with yours. You back story for you inchie is wonderful and invoked so many memories. You are awesome.

    1. Thanks so much, David. Do read my answer to Sandra just above. I think a lot of people have trouble with Quandary. Just look at the final design and make up your own stepout and I think you will be successful.

  15. what a lovely memory your inchie invokes. It brought to mind coming in from skating on the pond that formed every winter on my front lawn and the warmth of the kitchen, and for some reason, the coloured lights that were on the stove we had at the time! Great tangles too.

    1. Thanks, Diane. Yes, Quandary can be difficult. My theory is that if a tangle is difficult, set it aside and do something relaxing. After all, that's what Zentangle is all about. NO stress!
