Zentangle® Aquafleur, Nymph, and an Inchie

The Diva ran a day late this week with Challenge #240. However, we are all happy to hear that Artoo is doing better. Laura suggested that we do something inspired by the season. Well, I live in Arizona where mother nature doesn't know it's fall yet. I do come, originally, for New Jersey. I remember the beautiful fall leaves. I wanted to do a leaf on a tan tile and went hunting for an image to use. I found a free image that I used to make a stencil with my Scan n Cut machine. I sprayed with Dylusion sprays and did Aquafleur with a Tombow brown pen. I added sepia pencil for shading, white colored pencil for an outline, and a white gel pen to the simmer.
Square One chose the focus tangle of Nymph b CZT Melinda Barlow. I added Nippa.

And, Every Inchie Monday's prompt word was "yogurt". Well, I love yogurt and eat some almost every day. However, did you know that yogurt is also an excellent brass cleaner? (Can anyone guess that I used to be a teacher LOL!!!)

Thank you for stopping by. I truly enjoy reading your comments.

  1. Dear Jean, I was wondering what you were up to with the candlesticks (in the Library with Colonel Mustard, I presume?). I have a friend who pours yogurt into his septic system to keep it sparkly! Looks like you broke out all the toys for the Diva challenge and it sure was worth it! Bee-you-tee-full! Have a brilliant day! c

    1. Well, Cheryl, you know how I must try to be different as it covers up my lack of talent LOL! I just recently got the Scan n Cut and am learning how to use it. It took me several hours just to make the stencil! I WILL get better and faster. (I hope.)

    1. Thanks, Indira. Aquafleur is one of my favorites (yes, I know I have a lot of favorites) because it was introduced at my CZT training.

  12. Aquafleur was the perfect tangle for your leaf. I almost bit on a Scan and Cut, but decided to much of a learning curve since I'm started back to 3rd grade last year with the grandson, he's made it to 4th with all A's and B's lets see only 9 more years to go. Oh yeah then college, whew.

    1. HaHa, Beverly. You're not kidding about the learning curve. I have made more messes than good so far, but I am determined! Let's see how much more you learn the second, or probably third, time around LOL! Good luck!

    1. I never know what I am going to do with pure Zentangle, but I usually know where I'm heading with a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art for those who might not know). I saw this in my head and it turned out very close. Thank you, Christiane.

  18. Jean, all three are wonderful but the Diva Challenge tile is my favorite. I love color and the colors you chose are exquisite. And who would have thought that looking at the Diva Challenge tiles would educate me on the uses of yogurt? :) You never know what you'll learn when you tangle! :) Thanks for sharing.

  19. I just love your autumn leaf with Aquafleur! You are so good with all the fancy techniques! Your Nymph tile is so flowing, with just enough energy to keep it interesting. I like the combination with Nipa. And the Inchie...who knew? You make wonderful connections in your brain for these little gems!

  20. Such a beautiful tile and an amazing combination of the colorful leaf with Aquafleur surrounding it!

  21. As soon as I finish this comment, I have to Google Scan N' Cut although I've promised myself not to bring anymore crafting appliances into our abode until I use the sewing machine I bought during my quilting phase. Aquafleur does lend itself very well to the leaf motif and your fall tile is lovely. Of course, I'm so literal that whenever I think about Aquafleur, the image of a water plant comes to mind.

    1. LOL, Suzanne. If you buy one, we will have to start chatting on how to use it. It has a bit of a learning curve (for me anyway)! You know, it's funny that I studied French and yet never think of Aquafleur as a water flower. Maybe because of Rick and Maria's insistence that the names of tangles are never literal. There! That's how literal I am!

    2. I also only saw Aquafleur as an aquatic plant! (Occupational hazard of teaching French for 35 years!!)

  22. Great idea turning your leaf into Aquafleur! And such an interesting approach to adding the color - beautiful!

    1. Thanks Denise, I did this once before but I couldn't find the stencil I must have used, so I had to reinvent the wheel! I do think Aquafleur works well on a leaf shape and may even do more of this one day.
