Zentangle® Auraknot and Meer, Abeko, and an Inchie

Laura, from I am the Diva, has challenged us to use Auraknot and Meer as a duotangle. Trying to come up with something unique for this one wasn't easy as Auraknot is quite distinctive in nature. I decided to go huge with Meer and let it hug the Auraknot. Still playing with black. I used a Slicci silver and a Prismacolor metallic purple and silver.

The focus pattern from Square One, Facebook, is to use Abeko, a tangle from Lynn Shelton Meed. I really got to push this one quite a bit.

And finally, for Every Inchie Monday the prompt word is whale. Whatever you are doing today, I hope you are having a whale of a good time!

I like both your tiles, especially the way you drew Abeko. Gave me some inspiration, as I haven't done the Square One challenge yet. Also love the cute little whale!!

  8. I really like how you're using the black tiles. Worked great for the Diva Challenge, and I love those colors. Okay, time for more black tiles. I just went to check out Abeko. A very intriguing tangle for sure. I will have to add that to my tangle stash. I love the whale - it is so cute. I have to admit I had a "Whale of a Good Time" this weekend - went to my 50 Year High School Reunion - What? did I say 50? Oh my. Yes, it has been that long. But today I'm resting and relaxing. I don't do those 4 hour one way drives very often any more, especially I80, I5 and Hwy 99. Ugh. :-D

    1. Shhhh, I'm really using a black notebook, Melena. I got one for $4.00 and then got 40% off that too. I just take a photo and crop it to look like a tile, LOL! I know what you mean. Mine was last year...horrors! I didn't go though since mine was across the country.

  9. Meer that hugs the Auraknot is an original idea, the metallic colored pens used on a black tile give a very nice result. I love the pattern Abeko, it is drawn very pretty with this subtile shadow, like that very much and your inchie Jean; it is always funny to see (I'm fond of whales and I am a lucky person to have seen them a few times in real life on the Azores)

    1. You know, it's funny you say that, Magrat. I kind of thought that they looked so similar and thought I really need to broaden my scope. I like having new tangles, or old ones I have ignored, pushed on me sometimes. There are just so many and yet I seem to fall back on the old and comfortable ones a lot.

  13. I like the black--it always looks so crisp and classy and Abeko popped up on the "It's a String Thing," I'll be playing with that this week, too. Looks like you're the one having a whale of a good time, Jean! c

    1. I always have fun, Cheryl. I have had so much fun with my classes lately since I have some advanced students that love to experiment as well. I also had a large group of coloring book enthusiasts come to a local craft store last week for National Coloring Book day. That was really fun!

    1. Thank you, Lezli. No one will ever accuse me of doing "beautiful" work, but I do always strive to be a bit unique to make up for that LOL! I do appreciate that you recognize that I do challenge myself (and my students) in that way.
