Zentangle® Ribbon Style, Hakrall, and an Oval in Copic Markers

Guest poster this week at I am the Diva, is Jeanette Clawson, CZT. She suggests that we do part of a mosaic style tile that could be put together as a Zentangle Plate using ribbon style tangles. I took 6 of the 3Z tiles and drew circles in pencil. Here is the first completed tile in a rainbow style.
I used, from the bottom up, Odee by Susan Mayers CZT, Bales, Remo by Anne Marks, Watusee by Virginia Lockhart CZT, and Hurry.
The focus tangle for Square One, on Facebook, this week is Hakrail by CZT Holly Atwater. This really looks nice done by a more "grid like" tangler, which I am not. But, I did have fun pushing it a bit.
And, for a bit of Copic marker tangling, another oval.
Thanks for stopping by. I always love reading your comments.

    1. I think it will really look interesting when completed with the 3Z, Gudrun. You'll probably actually complete it, so I look forward to seeing it. (I, unfortunately, have the attention span of a gnat. So, who knows if I will ever go back to complete what I started, LOL!)

    1. Thanks, Ria. Almost tempted to let my students finish the mosaic! (No, I wouldn't really do that, LOL.)

  4. I like the 3Z and I really like the oval but that middle tile is just brilliant. I haven't tried that pattern yet but this makes me want to drop everything else and give it a go.

    1. How nice of you to say that you like that second tile, Margaret. I sometimes wonder if I should really post these tile where I go all out! I kind of like it myself, but you really need to go see how it was "supposed" to be done :)

  6. Hey, Jean. You really get into colors, don't you?! I don't see colors all that well so I stick to black pen and graphite. I thought doing a plate with 4 square tiles was daunting...and you tackle it with 3Z tiles...Yikes!! You were ambitious, weren't you. You do great work, Jean, an inspiration to us all.

    1. Coloring is really my "thing", Duane. I love to color using different mediums all the time for variety. As you may have noticed, there is only one tile. I'm afraid it may remain that way :) Thank you for the very kind compliment :) As a teacher at heart, I always hope I get people thinking!

    1. If I do finish it, Annemarie, I will post it. Right now my desk is full of cards that I am required to complete for my design team groups. Each one can take several hours to do. I'm also way behind in doing my Online classes. I'm not sure I'll ever catch up there :)

    1. Thank you, Pat. I don't think I've quite mastered it yet though. It does take some thinking to get it to look as beautiful as some have done!

  10. Great idea using 3Z tiles. Why didn't I think of that? The fact that I don't have any is clearly no excuse. As others have stated, I really enjoy your use of color and your taking the time to share your challenge tiles despite what sounds like a very full "plate"---and not a partial "plate" either.

    1. LOL, Suzanne. I'm the one who has chosen to fill my plate this full. Nobody made me. I just find, that since I always worked from morning to night, that I should keep up that pace. I have watched too many people fall into depression or just give up on living when they allowed themselves to just "relax". No relaxing for me! And, I LOVE what I am doing :)

    1. I had never used Remo before, Michele. This is a fun way to try out some tangles we may have missed. Due to all the "pressure" I am still working to complete my plate and am now playing with the idea of repeating fragments. Fun!

Your Hakrall tile and the oval tile are wonderful, too! Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. Well, Annette, due to "peer" pressure, I have completed my mosaic. I'll post the full thing next week! Thank you for the kind comment!

  14. I finally got here! :-D I decided to try out the "full plate", but I started from the beginning so I've been very busy. LOL. I love your 3z tile for the section of the "plate" The tangles are great and the colors are so perfect. Your Square One tile is very interesting. I love how you have it coming apart at the edges and other tangles coming out of it. But I absolutely love that oval tile. The color works so well with those tangles. I love looking at all your challenge tiles. I learn so much. Have a great weekend!

    1. I'm running behind this week too, Melena. I just made it to see your lovely contribution. I'm not a rainbow person, but somehow it happened on that 3Z, but my real love is coloring like in the oval. I can't tell you how much I look forward to your comments each week.
