Celtic Challenge #32 and Cockles n Mussels

Only two today. First I did the Celtic Challenge #32 from Judy West. We were to make up our own tangle pattern and then put it into  Celtic designed step out boxes and decorate them as well. I have made up a tangle called "chopped". If it is already out there with a different name, I do apologize and let me know so I can give proper credit.

Then Roy, at Mindful Creations, had us do Margaret Bremner's Cockles n Mussels. I really enjoy doing his monotangle exercises. They really get you thinking about ways to spice it up.

Just a bit lopsided but you can be sure I didn't use a ruler LOL!

  1. I love Chopped. It's a great pattern.

  2. Thank you Audrie. I have turned in a couple to TanglePatterns.com, but it seems that I am always doing something close to what someone else has already done. With all the patterns out there, I don't know how easy it is to come up with something new.

  3. 'There is nothing new under the sun' a wise person said. So of course you come uo with something close to some one else. I like your tile Jean, the 'frame' in it is great.

    1. Thanks Annemarie. I'm just starting to do her challenges. It was fun to do.

  4. Nice work, Jean. You could declare "chopped" as a variation of any one of a number of patterns built on the same principle, so giving it a new name is a nice idea. I know what you mean. When I try a new pattern it often ends up as a variation!

    1. Thank you Faith. Yes, I tried looking, but you can't look everywhere. And, people put odd names to their tangles, so that doesn't help much either LOL!

  5. Beautiful creations, Jean! And I love your own doodle/tangle (whatever). I believe you have had a lot of zentangle experience and, if you haven't seen one around like this, it's all yours.

  6. Thanks Zoe. I did send two off to Linda at TanglePatters.com but she said both of them were too similar to other ones out there, so I am kind of gun shy at this point. There are just so many of them out there. There's a group on flickr (I am not part of that one.) that has tons of them too.
