The Diva is back and her Challenge, #198, is to KISS, or keep it simple silly. Just about the easiest tangle, for me, is Mooka. I did it on a tan tile with an 05 brown and added red chalk and white charcoal. Simple!For Square One on Facebook, the tangle was Indy-Rella. I made one huge one and then put little ones as a background grid.
What a clever, clever, lateral move with yellow, brilliant! Love those Mooka tones.

DeleteJean, WOW!!!! This is fantastic, great job with your Zentangle. You did an amazing job. No not silly it's creative your KISS Mooka is different, like your choice of earth tones and the shading. I like how you have it looking as if it goes into one but come out of the other but does not meet, if that makes any since!!

DeleteLove your Mooka Tile, Jean. The shading with red chalk and white charcoal is awesome, and I really like that effect. Your square one tile is wonderful. Love your grid background. Your inchie is inspired. I'm no fan of mosquitoes either, but your version is wonderfully done.

DeleteWould you believe I've been tangling for about 9 months now and have never used/tried Mooka. All the tanglists I admire seem to use it quite a bit, so I'll need to remedy that soon.I do like your "simple" version of it, but I'll refer to it as "elegant", rather than simple---or maybe it's simply elegant. Yes, that's it!
ReplyDeleteI'm a little sensitive about mosquitoes. I just had to take 33 days of ginormous (maybe a tad hyperbolic) doxicycline capsules as malaria prophylaxis for a trip to the malarial part of South Africa. Fortunately, we only saw one mosquito---but lots of other animals. http://www.boomeresque.com/south-africa-safari-thornybush-game-reserve-monwana-game-lodge/ (Now that I think about it, most of them (the animals, not the mosquito) were beautifully tangled!)
HA, Suzanne. I don't think I'd want to get close enough to a mosquito to see if it was tangled. I know that a lot of those creepy crawlies are quite beautiful but they give me the heebie jeebies so I can't really look closely at them :) My hubby had malaria, so it's nice they have pills for that now!

DeleteMooka is a versatile tangle and you've made it so lovely, with the use of the tan tile and the white chalk shading. Your "yellow" would have worked for the challenege as well since it is simple, yet captivating (if one doesn't think about the mosquito part...)

Thanks! I used white charcoal, Hesedetang. Make sure you bring some $$$ to your CZT training as you can buy supplies at a reduced amount and no shipping! Hope you are going to the same seminar as my friend Amy. Look for her; she's very tall :)

DeleteNice Mooka monotangle. Like the shading. Your Indy-rella would have also worked for putting a free form tangle in a grid. I usually use Indy-rella and just let it meander where ever it wants to go.

Hi Omer! Nice to hear from you. Yes, when I teach, I see that all the time. I found Mooka very difficult though in the beginning and really had to put a lot of effort into it at first. But, I loved it so much that I just kept doing it until it was easy. Some tangles, if they are not easy, just get dropped LOL!
