Zentangle® with a Stencil

The Challenge from the Diva this week is to use a stencil as a string. Being an art journalist and card maker means I have LOTS of stencils. I chose one from TC Designs. I used Quib, 'Nzepple, Crescent Moon, Ibex, Knightsbridge, Betweed, and Tipple.

For Square One on Facebook, the tangle to use was Man-O-Man, to which I added Festune and Verdigogh.

And, Every Inchie Monday had a prompt of "Gecko!" Did you know that a mechanical engineer has come up with gloves for humans that mimic the sticky pads of a gecko's feet to allow for vertical climbing on smooth surfaces? Here is an interesting article about it.

  4. I must be daft. It never occurred to me to use a "real" stencil! I like both tiles here. The lines made by the stencil are almost Hollibaugh too. No matter how good those gloves are, I don't think you'll get me climbing walls any time soon.

    1. Well, if you've got 'em, use them, I say :) I agree. You'd never catch me climbing up some wall hoping that the gloves would hold the whole way! Yikes!

    1. Thanks, Kate. I always like the look of negative space and a string like this does help to preserve some white. I almost filled them with laced but decided against it.

  14. I love your stencil tangle, Jean!! Simple and very effective. Great Man-o-man too, though I found this a difficult tangle to bring to life. I find Gecko feet fascinating so really appreciate your Inchie and the unexpected additional information - thank you! Axxx

    1. Thanks, Annie. I don't really like the way mine turned out. I just don't have the patience for tangles that are more grid like or require accuracy. LOL! Give me Mooka any day!

    1. Always happy to encourage someone to try more tangles. There sure are enough of them that we will never get to all of them :)

    3. I just love the AZ desert, Becky. Although, when I first came here I was disappointed because I expected something more like the Sahara desert LOL! My four kids are grown, but I still have a cockatiel, a dog, and a cat, plus the hubby. So, a similar life style I guess. Nice to meet you :)

  18. oh, Jean! I love your tiles and inchie today! The thing I like most about the diva's challenge tile...is that I look at it and realize that I recognize the names of the tangles...LOL! I'm learning...BTW you were one of the random winners on my blog for the arts and crafts stencil. Visit the blog to see how to get it mailed to you!

    1. Yes, Lynell. I think learning the names is the hardest thing about Zentangle LOL! It does take a while to do so. Yay! I will hop over to your blog :)

    1. Your English is good, Christine, and I am always impressed with how people who speak other languages are brave enough to comment. Good for you and thank you! Yes, I think you are right and that a partial stencil gives a piece more movement.

  20. Love the gecko toes! And no matter how hard we try, we still can't match the engineering of the Master. I like how you used the stencil--just enough of it. And you got to it first! You must never sleep. have a brilliant day! c

    1. Well, Cstocks, since I am retired, I take my three interests and three blogs very seriously, almost like a job. (I've read too many stories about people who retired, just to die. Not gonna do it!) I do spend about 8 hours each day either on the computer or creating, but I also get a good night's sleep. I have found, just like back in school, that I do better if I have a schedule and just do things on the day they are posted. Works for me :)
