Zentangle® No Rainbows Allowed

The Diva is enjoying her vacation, and so our guest blogger this week is Jen Crutchfield for weekly challenge #225. Jen challenged us to color, but only two or three and NO rainbows. Well, I found an old tile with a kind of Mookish look that I don't remember doing and thought I would play with it. I have some new Zig Clean Color Brushes that are a watercolor brush. Quite vibrant. I only chose three colors. Three, red/yellow/blue! Duh, can you say rainbow?  I thought these brush pens would work nicely on the Zentangle tiles because they are made from very fine watercolor paper. These pens take a bit of practice, but they are fun to work with.
Square One, Facebook, featured tangle this week is Munchin. I added some Gust just because I don't think I have ever done Gust.

One additional Zentangle piece for you this week is done on gray paper (yes, Annemarie) I finally found it) with colored pencil and white charcoal. It is a process from Lynn Mead that she calls Zentwining.

And, finally, for Every Inchie Monday, the prompt was yarn. Since I am a spinner/weaver/knitter, I have lots of yarn. I chose some pieces of my own handspun yarns for you to see.

Thanks for stopping by. I really enjoy your comments!

  4. You know how when you were in school (elementary), the teacher always said to first carefully read the instructions----somehow I missed that part about only using 2 colors and no rainbows. Oh well. Personally, I like the vibrant colors you chose. If you're doing color, you might as well DO COLOR.

    1. Well, Zoe, I AM a jack of all trades. I love to learn at least a little about everything that interests me. I learn everything well enough to be "good", but I'll probably never be "great" at anything. But, that's okay.

  11. Dear Jean, I am intrigued by the Zentwining thing and thanks for the link to the tutorial. That is COOL! The colors for your Diva piece are HOT! I can't believe you twisted up those yarns. No, wait! Yes, I can because you are multi-talented! Have a brilliant day! c

    1. Do try the Zentwining, Cheryl. It really was a lot of fun. Yes, those markers are BOLD aren't they? And, I do enjoy spinning when I have time. Being retired, for some reason, I have even less time to do everything I want to do! I also spin with a drop spindle. That's fun too.

    1. Thanks, Yukari. If you order the markers, go to carpediem markers online. Way less expensive and you can just buy your major colors and use water to make the rest yourself.
