Zentangle® Squid, Cyme, and an Inchie

The Diva Challenge, #243, was to give "just a tiny taste" of a tangle on your tile. I opened one of my books and randomly chose Squid. I was inspired by Laura's idea of using different colors on the tan Renaissance tiles, so I picked a turquoise pen and added colored pencil, white charcoal and a white gel pen. A bit of Msst was added to draw the eye in just a bit.
The focus tangle on Facebook's Square One was to use Cyme. I filled the center with Auraknot and added Courant and black pearls.
Here is a surprise for Zentangle followers. The prompt word for Every Inchie Monday this week is "nymph"! So, I did a tiny Zentangle pattern that is actually called Nymph for my Inchie. Here are the step-outs for anyone interested.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I really enjoy reading your comments.

  1. That colour works really well on the tan tile and the use of just a couple of patterns underpins the minimalist idea.

    1. Thank you, Margaret. I think I will have to try more color combos on the tan in the future.

    1. Thank you, Ilse. I'm not usually into "pretty" but maybe keeping it open makes it so.

    1. Thank you, Anja. I played with different color combos on the back of the tile as the tan does change how the colors work sometimes.

    1. Thanks, Joanne. The inside of the Cyme just seemed to beg for Auraknot. I actually thought I would see a lot of them done that way.

    1. Thank you, Sandra. I know what you mean. I'm not sure what I would have done since I don't think I could really draw a nymph LOL! I'm sure you will come up with something though. We always do, don't we?

  15. Dear Jean, the turquoise is striking on the tan tile and the just little bit is fantastic for the Diva Challenge--less can be more! I didn't know there was a "Nymph" tangle and it looks like an interesting one. NIce work, enjoyed these. Have a brilliant day! c

    1. Thank you, Cheryl. It was one of the tangles to use, I think, on Square One. It was fun to see how people used it. It really just looks like 'Nzepple filled in though, to me anyway :)

    1. It is a Sharpie Ultra Fine Point marker, Kate. I have them in just about every color since they used to go on sale at Office Max and I would pick one up each time.

  25. I really love your turquoise squid tile. The way you used the white and then shadowed it with turquoise in the Msst is masterful! How cool that your Inchie was Nymph! Not much deliberation required this week!

    1. Thanks, Antonine. I really think the tan tiles lend themselves to a lot more color choices than the browns. And, yes, I had an easy week with the Inchie prompt LOL!

    1. Thank you, Jennifer, but you should try it and I'll bet you can do it too. It is the contrasts that pull it off. I kind of like Nymph too. It's a "new to me" tangle, but since I like 'Nzepple I will probably use it more.
