The challenge over at I am the Diva is to use Shattuck. I went to grab a tile and found this one that I had covered with inks. So, why not? I used a white acrylic paint marker and added shading with black pastel.Square One, Facebook, requires the use of traditional tiles and black and white. The focus tangle is Akoya by Sandy Hunter, CZT. After I finished that, I really had to do one on a Renaissance round tile.

DeleteIt is always pleasant to experiment with colours, there are so many ways to make a special background, I also like to do that sometimes.

I had made a "mistake" that I could see no way of fixing on that colored tile. That's why I spashed it with inks. Glad I could finally find a way to use it. Thanks, Ria.

ReplyDeleteI have had the Renaissance round tiles sitting here for a long time. This one actually had a spot on it so I finally grabbed it to work with. They are really nice in texture for Zentangle, Lily.
DeleteI'm here because I also participate in the Diva's weekly challenge, but now I have to try Akoya. What an elegant tangle---as is also reflected in your Square One tiles. As for Shattuck---nice to liven up your monotangle with a colored tile.

DeleteOh I have fallen in love with your Renaissance Zendala, it looks drawn in pink on my screen and is gorgeous (sometimes the screen doesn't show the original colour). You shade your orbs so beautifully. I wish I could draw Akoya to that standard. Great Diva and Inchie responses too.
ReplyDeleteYou are so kind, YT. The pinkish color was done with a sepia colored pen and pastel. The shading is very simple. Follow the lower curve with a soft pastel, blend with a tortillion so it keeps the quarter moon shape then add white to the top part of the orb. I'll bet you can do it :)

I'm out of town but I managed to get the challenge done and took pictures instead of scanning. I like how the picture turned out too. It's fun to learn new ways of doing all kinds of things. :)

Love the Akoya zentangle- never seen it - I keep saying to myself I must "try zentangle" but I'm scared I won't be able to do such gorgeous work as all you guys out there! They are beautiful zentangles and I love your Alice door - I'm afraid I didn't recognise it either but I've not seen the film!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL, Jenny. It's just the teacher in me. I just can't help myself in that area :) I don't know where you live, but you can try to find a CZT (Certified Zentangle Teacher) in your area. Go to Zentangle.com to find someone. With just one class, all of that doubt will be gone and you will be on your way to enjoying the benefits of Zentangle.
DeleteNice work. I have not colored any tiles for a while. I have not tackled Akoya yet. I tried it a few times when it was first posted. I could not get the variations. Maybe will get back to it later. Congrats on being the first poster. Never have had that privilege.
