A Zentangle® Challenge, an Inchie, and Copic Marker News

I am very pleased to let you know that I completed my Copic Training, am now a Copic Certified Designer, and will soon receive a button to place on the side of my blog to prove it :) It was so much fun, and very informative. I learned so a lot and can hardly wait to share some techniques with my ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) students. I won't make you look at everything that I do, but I thought I would share just one piece that I did. (Can't you just see this with tangled leaves?)

Laura, the Diva, challenged us to to try grid-based patterns on curvy or uneven grids. I started off, more predictably, and tosses that tile aside undone, and went back and got a bit more "wild" with my lines. Now, that was fun!
Bales, Florz, Strircles with Grid
The Inchie for today, Every Inchie Monday, was "Dark".  I couldn't make up my mind, so I did a flashlight, lightbulb, and fireworks on black paper.

And, finally, a tile that uses a "string" made with glitter glue, background in Gellatos:

Thanks for stopping by, and thank you so much for all your encouraging comments!

    1. Thank you so much, Annie. I wish, really wish, you could come here too. I used to use crayons all the time before I found Copics. You can really learn a lot by blending crayons too.

    1. Oh,Kathy, I so agree, although it is in the high 70's and low 80's here, I prefer HOT weather. When I was a child, in New Jersey, I had a lilac bush right outside of my bedroom window. Oh, the scent was heavenly!

  7. What a very cool idea to depict "dark" by using light! A juxtaposition that is PERFECT. Really nice.

    1. Thanks, Jenn. That's just the place my mind took me. Maybe because I don't like the dark?

  10. Oh my goodness I really love your Copic art! I would love to try those markers but they are so dog gone expensive!!Inchies are awesome and so is your tangled tile! Sometimes those Inchies just pull you in and want to keep on going!! Looks like the Inchie bug bit you! I'm glad you're having fun with them! I like all of the ones you've done! :0) Share Humanity

    1. Yes, soooo expensive. However, I have found a source online that, if you join their site, sells them for $4.99. (http://www.oozak.com/copic.php) They are refillable and the refill sells for $5.60 and you get 12 refills in that. So, if my math is correct, the end total is only 82 cents each. But, you really must be dedicated :)

  11. I love how your tile has so much movement and I am thinking curvy will be fun to use in mostly straight grids just to liven them up a bit. I too love you lilac!

    1. Thank you, Zoe. I never thought I would be able to do this either until I saw that they were offering a class less than an hour away from where I live. That's the real expense is having to drive or fly and stay in hotels and such. Lucky for me :)

    1. Thank you, Cathy. Copic are not hard to use simply. They get more complicated for skin, hair and such, but for use with Inchies or Zentangle Inspired Art, they are easy. Just purchase two or three that are similar (they sell them in sets that go together too) in color and watch a few YouTube videos and you will be loving them!
