Zentangle ® - Inchie, Dare, Challenge

Tidings, Man-O-Man, Ennies
The Diva challenged us to leave some white/empty space in our tangles. That's easier said than done for some of us. I really had to think this one out. Also, I had a student yesterday that really made me think about shading, so I tried doing mine a bit differently this time too.

Erin's, I am the Diva, Dare was to include my favorite tangle, Paradox. I managed to squeeze it in to all kinds of places with this template. I particularly like forcing Paradox into places that are made to be asymmetrical.

Inchies. Oh what fun I am having with those tiny little squares of paper where anything goes as long as you can fit it into that one inch square. This week's prompt was "dual" and what else would I think of but my beloved Copic markers with the dual points. This is especially fitting as I am going later this week for two days of intensive training to become Copic Certified so that I can teach others how to use these beautiful markers.

Don't forget to check out my other pages for more fun from the tabs above. There's always something new to look at on the Art Journaling page.

  1. Very well done with the white space, Jean - it will certainly be a challenge for me! And reading your words made me realise that I missed the point completely about including Paradox in this week's Zendala dare - I did three and didn't use Paradox once!! Cute little inchie! Axxx

    1. Thanks, Annie. I wouldn't worry about using Paradox. I OFTEN don't notice directions in her Dare and go off on my merry way only to notice AFTER I have posted HAHA :)

    1. Well, she almost missed it herself :) We are going through the "birthday gift" tangles and this week's was Paradox (contributed to first by yours truly). I don't think it really matters though. And, thanks Annemarie!

  14. Great job, your shading really gives depth to Man-o-man, pushing it behind all your others. Love your manipulation of Paradox Zendala.

    1. I really appreciate your feedback on the shading, Daniele. I really was stepping away from my usual shading and wasn't sure if it was as effective as what I would normally do.

  15. all great - shading is terrific. I really like your weekly challenge - you've used (and inspired me) a couple of tangles I haven't tried yet but should - man-o-man, and tidings!

    1. Thanks, Sue. I actually couldn't do Man-o-Man the first time I tried it a couple of years ago. It's good to go back and try tangles that you didn't like or had problems with.

  18. Can definitely tell that paradox is one of your favorite tangles. There were lots of places to use it. You definitely used white space effectively in the Dare.

    1. I can hardly wait to see what next week's tangle is. I really enjoy trying to push a tangle to it's limits. I'm not that good at it, but some people really amaze me at what they can make a tangle do.

    1. I most certainly have to work on keeping white space. I couldn't stand it, Linda, and just had to spill some of the Man-O-Man into it :)

  24. Your Diva's challenge is great; nice white space. And I like your Zendala very much, too. I'm one of those that misinterpreted the challenge. I may have to do another and include Paradox; it's also one of my favorites.

    1. Thank you, Audrie. I think I use Paradox just a little too much maybe? That's why I do a lot of "point and use" so that I don't do that all the time :)
