The
Diva challenged us to use Mooka and Auraknot as a duotangle this week. I happen to love both of them so I decided to break out one of my tan Renaissance tiles to do this one. I'm glad I did because I really like this one and I hope you do too! Head over there to see videos of these two great tangles from Rick and Maria!
This week's Inchie from Every Inchie Monday had me throwing fits. I just couldn't do "lavender." I love the color, and it's actually my favorite, but I didn't want to do color. I didn't want to do the flower. I didn't want to do the aura. Then I had a very odd memory. When I was really young (maybe last week?) I remember some really OLD ladies (probably 50 or so HAHA) who always had these lavender candies in their purse. They came in a tiny box. The candies were sort of triangular shaped and smelled and tasted like soap. Is there anyone else out there that remembers these? I looked up old fashioned candy online but couldn't find them. So, I have made them for YOU! Can't you almost taste how awful they are?
I love the shading on your tile, it really makes the Auraknot pop up off the page

Deletelove the zentangle, and the inchie? never heard of this candy, but I am sure it was awful. I think those old ladies had candies like that in their bags so we as kids would never ask them for candy! lol

Oh, I am soooo happy that somebody remembers these. I was starting to think I had imagined the awful little things! Watch the video that Maria did with the ribbon going through Auraknot. I think you will find it very helpful.
DeleteLove your treatment on this challenge. Great design and wonderful shading. So that will be an ethusiastic yes on your challenge piece, but I'll pass on tasting the candies.

ReplyDeleteOh Jean, gorgeous tile! Is that the Renaissance tile? I am this close to sitting down to do this duotangle before the weekend. Those two are beautiful. Lavender candy? Never heard of it. I've heard of lavender hair. In face, I had lavender for a short while about 15 years ago :)

DeleteCute little inchie based on a lovely memory. I remember violet sweets (which I loved) but not the lavender ones Not sure about those but I have had lavender custard and lavender sorbet though and they were both very tasty!!! Super tangle too :)
ReplyDeleteI find myself going back to memories more and more as I age. I guess that's quite normal though. I wonder if the violet and the lavender ones were the same thing? We all do have different tastes though and that's a wonderful thing. What if all we had was vanilla ice cream? HAHA!

DeleteJean, love that you came up with something so unique. Cute! Although, I have to say I know those lavender hard candies exist, but the idea of eating that scent... no. Although, I do love Jujubees and I've always thought they taste like lavender smells. hehe
ReplyDeleteHAHA, Jenn, I loved sticking a Jujubee on the tip of each of my eye teeth and letting them melt. (Somebody please pick up the poor dentist, fainted over there!) And, yes, they were yucky too but amusing!

DeleteWow Jean this is beautiful. Love how the mooka slips through and around the auraknot and the tan tile really does suit these tangles. The little lavender coloured sweets I remember were called Parma Violets I think :) Linda x
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda. I looked them up and, those are round and come in a roll. The ones I remember were very tiny ('cause just one would be more than enough) and triangular and came in a tiny box. Good try though HAHA!
