Zentangle® Some Gems, Yuma, and an Inchie

If you are here for The Diva Challenge, Laura will post tomorrow, so do check back. Instead, I thought I'd share a "gem" tile. I used colored pencils for this. The tangles are Hollibaugh and C-Scape.
Square One, Facebook, focus tangle is Yuma by Tina Hunzirer.

And. Every Inchie Monday has a prompt word of Spaceship. When I was young my brother always made us watch Buck Rogers. Did you know that a rocket, which is what Buck traveled in, should have been called a spaceship? A rocket does not carry people. But, Buck nor I knew that. So, in my backyard was an old peach tree that was being propped up with an old broken limb. Perfect for a small child to sit on. In the crook, I kept a black and square smooth stone. This was my communicator. Many happy hours were spent traveling the universe in my rocketship, or more properly "spaceship".

Thank you for stopping by. I hope to see you again tomorrow for the Diva's Challenge as well. I do enjoy reading your comments, and appreciate all of you who continue to encourage my efforts!

    1. I always had quite the imagination, Kia. I feel sorry for children today that don't have the time or the freedom to pretend. I was also a boat captain, a pilot, Annie Oakley, and a witch at times.

    1. Those gems are all the rage right now with tanglers, Freebird. Most of us love the excuse to add color to our work :)

    1. I was so sad to hear my little three year old neighbor tell me that she was too old for dolls. I learned so much by living in that pretend world of childhood.

    1. There are so many fun ways to do these, Tina. Try markers, pencils, paints, and anything else you can think of to try to duplicate different gems. It is a lot of fun.

    1. Well, Cheryl, you made me look up the word cabochons! You know I love to learn something new each day, so that is today's word :) Yes, I think Yuma would be a nice filler for other tangles IF I remember it. There are just so many tangles that I really like that I forget to use.

  8. Just love your work and especially the story of such a brilliant imagination - after all a spaceship can be anything when you are a child - I try to encourage my grandchildren in imaginative play and they are great with a wheelbarrow, some blankets and cushions and an umbrella!! Must try the Yuma tangle I don't know that one - yours are all splendid - brilliant work.

    1. You are so very kind, Jenny! Thank you. I used to build islands in a wheelbarrow with rocks. Then, the people were tiny rocks and I made paper boats for them to travel and visit each other. Glad to hear that some children are still being encouraged to use their imaginations.

  9. Jean,
I love Yuma. It's so much fun to do. But I understand about forgetting to use some of them. There are so many tangle patterns out there. I also love your gem Cabochons (yes, that is the right word). That's something I want to learn how to do. So many things to learn. :-D And your inchie Spaceship (yes, they did call them rocket ships back then Ha ha ha) is wonderful. Life was good when we were kids. It is fun to remember all those things we did.

    1. I have always loved color, Melena, so the gems are a lot of fun for me to do. I am happy to find any excuse for using the tons of paints, pencils, and markers that are sitting in my studio LOL! Yes, growing up then was a magical time.
