Oooh, Shiny with Cadent, Zonkled, and an Inchie

Everyone is finally well over at Casa Diva. Yay! The guest post, on I am the Diva, comes to us this week from CZT Amy Brody. She challenged us to go "Oooh Shiny"! I use that term to describe myself but meaning that I am easily distracted to some new art form or craft. She wanted us to add something shiny to our Zentangle piece. I used a black tile and drew free form Cadent with a silver Pentel Slicci pen. I added, from my cardmaking stash, some "diamond" embellishments to the circles (I can hear my students thinking :correct terminology of "orbs" since circles imply perfection which is a naughty word!) Wish you could really see the shine. Hard to capture in a photo.
The focus tangle for Square One, Facebook, is to use Zonked by Barbara Finwell. I don't usually put too many tangles on one tile, but this one just kept growing to include Msst, Paradox, Crescent Moon, and Footlites.
And, the prompt word for Every Inchie Monday is towel. When someone is feeling sorry for themselves, just throw them a "crying" towel.

Thanks for stopping by. I love reading all your coments!

  1. Hello Jean, and thank you for your quick response to my challenge! Your sparkly cadent stands out wonderfully on the black tile. Those Slicci pens are luscious, aren't they?! I love how you associate my "Oooh--Shiny!" theme with distraction--I am the same way!
If I end up with 3 comments posted, I apologize. This is my third attempt to leave a comment, as the first two times didn't seem to go through.

    1. Hi, Amy! Yes, I LOVE those Slicci pens. I loved this challenge. So unique but probably a bit easier for those of us who are also mixed media artists. I do moderate my comments so that readers don't have to read spam, so maybe that's why you didn't see your comment show. Thanks for taking the time to stop by!

  2. I like your diamond orbs, the shiny comes through on my screen particularly towards the bottom. Very clever to achieve it on a black background. Your crying inchie perversely made me smile.

    1. I was hoping I wouldn't offend anyone with a crying towel, YT! It was either that or "throw in the towel", both are kind of negative though and I couldn't really think of how to draw that idea. Thanks for your comments :)

  3. I had a "shiny" day right from the start today (as you'll see on my post). I like your orbs a lot. They look like real pearls!

  6. Oooo. I like it. I do see the shiny on your diamonds. I still have to go do this challenge, but I decided I wanted to see what you did before I go get my materials. Now to figure out which of the many ideas I have that I will use. Fun!

I love how you used Zonked. It's one of my favorites. Good choices to go with it. And the "Crying Towel" made me smile too. I can't think of anything else for towel either. Oh! Maybe Beach Towel?

    1. I had to really think for this one too, Melena. I got the idea in the shower. Many of my best ideas come when I am in the shower LOL! Beach towel! Now why didn't I think of that one? I love the beach a lot more than crying!

    1. Sometimes the words are really difficult to "play" with, Kia, when they are so literal. I can't come up with something creative each week either this year.

    1. Yes, Freebird. Before Zentangle, cards, and art journaling, I used to be a beader too. I must have a zillion beads because, well, they are shiny LOL!

  11. Good idea to draw on a black tile for this challenge; your work is uncomplicated but really nice and I also love the "pearls"

    1. I prefer to stay "uncomplicated", Ria. That second tile is so unlike me. It reminds me of a beginner tile where you try to fit in everything you know into one. Simple tiles can be refreshing sometimes. Thanks for your kind words.

    1. That's because black and tan are covered in Zentangle Two, Tina! LOL! Really though, do play with the black just to see if you like it. I actually prefer the Renaissance tiles even though they do take some getting used to.
