Zentangle® Web, Boze, and an Inchie

The Diva Challenge is to do either a Halloween tile or something on black with white. I do enjoy working on black paper, but not so much on the softer tiles. But, I did so for the challenge.
I used Suzanne McNeill's Web and then did a mirror image. I added some Tipple and Betweed with the mirrored image. The main lines were made with a Uniball Angelic White pen and then white charcoal and white Prismacolor pencil was added.

The focus tangle on Square One, Facebook is to use Boze by Jan Steinle. As you can see, I had to do a "what if"!
Variation

And, Every Inchie Monday's prompt word is Coastline. I originally come from New Jersey and our favorite place of all was "down the shore" to Seaside Heights. This is the Jersey coastline highlighting where my favorite childhood memories were made. The top star is where I lived at the time, Hawthorne.

Zentangle® 'NZeppel, Flux, Tagh, and an Inchie

The challenge, #290, from I am the Diva, is to use just 'NZeppel and Flux. I though it might be nice to use Flux as the string and fill with the 'NZeppel. I used a Renaissance tile, Polychromos pencils, and charcoal in white and brown.
The focus tangle for Square One on Facebook this week is Tagh.
And the prompt word for Every Inchie Monday is Pirates. This was a fun one to research. I found that there were several famous women pirates. I was most intrigued by a pair that became good friends, Anne Bonny and Mary Reed. The interesting thing was that both of these women were brought up as boys.

I always enjoy reading your comments. Thank you for visiting!

Zentangle® Leaves, Antique, and an Inchie

For some of us, fall is right around the corner. Well, in southern AZ, it will still be awhile! The Diva Challenge, #289, is "Leafy Goodness". I printed some leaves out on watercolor paper and did some ink spraying before adding variations of Verdigogh, Fracas, and Drupe. Then, I added Koi Watercolor brushes and Polychromos pencils for shading. So colorful that I just had to add it to a card base for sending some cheer to a friend.

The focus tangle for Square One, Facebook, is Antique by Kathy Barringer, CZT. I added some petals and a dark upper border for some extra punch.

And, for Every Inchie Monday, the prompt word is Horizon. I found this quote from Vanessa Hudgens: "I just love expanding my horizons and growing as an artist. The only way you get to do that is by doing something that scares you or takes you out of your comfort zone." Smart cookie. The only way to grow is to stretch.

Thanks to all of you who have stopped by. I love it when you leave comments!

Zentangle® Gourdgeous and Showgirl

The challenge from I am the Diva is a day later this week because of the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday. I hope all my Canadian friends had a wonderful day. If you missed my post from yesterday with some info on my latest interactive local program, click here and find your weekly dose of the Facebook and Inchie prompts too.

The tangle of the week, posted today, is Gourdgeous. Perfect for the season.
I used a Renaissance tile, tangled with a brown Micron, filled with an Orange Copic Multiliner, and colored with Polychromos colored pencils.

Here is an extra. Showgirl on black with white gel pen and white charcoal.
Thank you for stopping by. I enjoy reading your comment.

Zentangle® Oshun and an Inchie

I did not realize that today was Thanksgiving in Canada. So, no Diva Challenge today. I hope all of our Canadian friends have a great holiday.

Saturday, I did a presentation at the Appaloosa library in Scottsdale, Coloring and Zentangle for Seniors. It was a lot of fun and very successful. If you missed the first one, and are a senior living in Scottsdale, I will be doing a second presentation on October 20th at the Civic Center Library. Do call and reserve a spot as they are almost full.

Square One, Facebook, has a focus tangle of Oshun, by Sandy Steen Bartholomew. I placed it in the corners and then allowed Quib to grow from each side.

Every Inchie Monday's word is Direction.
You have BRAINS in your head, You have feet in your shoes,
You can steer yourself any direction you choose." Dr. Seuss

From Oh, the Places You'll Go! I never tired of reading any of Dr. Seuss' wisdom to my children. (This is from the cover.) If you've never read it, you should. Excerpts.

Thank you for stopping by. I will post the Diva Challenge tomorrow. Hope to see you again then.

Chaz, Zentangle®, Step-Outs

I have been thinking of my tangle, Chaz, lately and thought I would repost the steps for it. This is a copy/paste from the "Jean's Way" tab on the top bar.

June 2013 at CZT training.

I actually have taught this pattern for over 30 years. Not as Zentangle, but as a fun thing for my students to do when I was an elementary school art teacher. When I saw the hanging light while at lunch during my CZT training, I knew I had to present it to the whole group. Everyone, including Rick and Maria, liked Chaz!

Please let me know if this pattern already exists and I will remove it immediately

Based on this.

Zentangle® Dreamcatcher, Florez, and an Inchie

As it is the first Monday of the month, I am the Diva has given us a Use My Tangle from Daniel Lamonthe called Dreamcatcher. Fun and easy tangle to expand upon. I chose to round my edges and then began to play within the shapes. Some Tagh crept in and then a few angular leaves.
I used Prismacolors and a brown Micron on a Renaissance tile.
Square One, Facebook, has a focus tangle of Florez by Andrea Shaman. Another fun tangle to play with.
And, finally, for Every Inchie Monday, the prompt word is Dinosaur. Hard to fit a dinosaur on a one inch piece of paper so I selected the Microraptor found in China that was only 16" in size and thought to be the smallest dinosaur. It lived in trees and had several birdlike features. Since no one really knows what colors dinosaurs were, no selfies, I took some liberties!
