Zentangle® Aloha and Scute

Running a bit behind this week since Monday was a Canadian holiday and yesterday the Hubby and I took a little road trip up north.

I was so pleased to see that Suzanne Fluhr is the guest blogger over at I am the Diva this week. She shared her tangle, Aloha, and well as a cute photo of Dino her cutie dog.
I used some colored Copic and Sharpie pens and some Polychromos pencils for shading.

The focus tangle on Square One, Facebook, is Scute by Lily Moon. This is a Facebook link. However, Lily also has a YouTube video that I haven't looked at yet .I added some Mooka, Jetties, and Fescu.
That's it for this week. I hope you are having a great one, and I thank you all that visit and leave comments!

  1. A nice interpretation of Aloha, a lovely pattern that we all like and there is already a new pattern: Scute. This tile is my favorite of the week, an original composition and combination and beautiful shadowed!!!

    1. Aloha is really pretty with the leaves it creates to work with. Scute was fun to change around and do something different with. Thanks, Ria!

  3. Jean, thank you so much for your kindness and support. You were one of the first CZT's I bonded with on-line in the Zentangle community. And through you, I was "virtually"introduced to Amy Smith who was in my CZT seminar. Thank you also for stopping by to check out Shorely on my blog. I really like what you did with Aloha here. Your color choices are perfect and I am drawn to the 3 dimensionality you brought to your Aloha. Mahalo.

    1. We have been friends for a long time Suzanne. I really was thrilled to see you pop up over at the Diva Challenge. Love your tangles. Wish I could meet you one day "down the shore"! Our high school reunion was there, but alas there just aren't the funds for those kinds of trips anymore. Well, there's always the chance at winning the lottery, if only I would remember to play, LOL!

  4. Like the color and how you used Aloha in the DC tile. Nice line work on Aloha. Saw your explanation of why you were so far down the list this week. I thought maybe you just decided to sleep in.

    1. HaHa, Donald! Sleep in? Wow, wouldn't that be fun. You'd think that being retired would mean that, but my dog doesn't know I am retired :)

  6. Your Aloha is beautiful Jean. Pink isn't really my color but you use it well and I love it on this tile. And I really like Scute. I'll have to check out the YouTube video that Lily Moon did. That will be fun to see. I actually got my tile done yesterday but I'm so busy I didn't get a chance to get a picture of it until tonight (still not at home). The roof is done on the garage, but we've been working on getting the wood shed fixed up with a new fiberglass roof. The wood shed really took a hit last winter with all the rain and wind, as did the roof, but now we'll be ready for the coming winter. All fun but I'm tired. LOL Have a great week!

    1. Pink isn't my color either, Melena. I have a jar of pens and I tend to grab without looking and go from there. Roofs and sheds just sound like too much work to me. I have decided to just let my house fall down around me. A lot easier that way, LOL!

  7. I do like your Aloha tile. Tipple is just the right thing next to it.

    1. I sometimes think I use Tipple too much, Annemarie, but it helps to soften out a lot of the things that I do.

  8. Somebody pointed out a flower name for Aloha (H..... - never can remember Latin names), but it has the same coloring you are using. But because you already had a pinky tile last week, I have a very strong assumption, you are on a pink trip, Jean. Nevertheless, you succeeded to still draw a very lovely tile for Suzanne. I saw the video and instantly liked Scute, but equally instantly forgot that I wanted to draw it. Your beautiful version reminded me. Thanks, Jean!!

    1. I didn't realize that I had used pink recently, Susie. As I said above, it is not my favorite color. But, it's what I grabbed and it worked. I think I had to add the green to make it less pink. Grid based tangles are often restrictive, to me anyway, so that's why I feel the need to push them a bit. I usually do them right< once, in my sketch book and then I am off to explore.
