C-scape and Zendala #59

This "getting ready to retire" is exhausting! I will really need a good rest when this upcoming, last week of working is over :)

This weeks Zendala template from Erin at The Bright Owl looked so simple. I, of course, had to make it not simple. I did enjoy working on it though. A lot:
Then, I did a TOW (tangle of the week) with my Yahoo group using Susan Olsen's C-scape. Oh, what a lovely new tangle is that one. I had days of playing before I settled on doing it in the round - just to see if I could:
Next time you hear from me, I will be RETIRED! (Does that mean tired all over again?)

Hollibaugh and Dare #58

Here it is, Sunday again. I like to complete Erin's Zendala Dare and a TOW for my Yahoo group on Sunday, if I can. I was hankering to do some laced. I added Queen's Crown in the center in a circular pattern and some Pia.
This is what I came up with for the Dare:

And the TOW was to use Hollibaugh:

Postcards, and Roy's Fengle Challenge

I finished up my postcards today and mailed them out to my swap partners. They were done on 300 pound water color paper. The only problem with this swap is there was no room for "mistakes" ( I know there are no mistakes in Zentangle®; however, these are ZIA's and that's different, yes?) I tried some new techniques and some new pens and I am not thrilled with the results. If I had more of the paper that was sent to me, I probably would have done a do-over on these. I know I should try out new ideas before jumping right in, but I guess that just isn't my style LOL!

I got some AquaMarker pens this week. I think they are a bit overpowering. Not like the delicate work that I admire in other people's work. It is bold though :)

This one was for the swap host, Anita Roby-Lavery. I had fun incorporating some of her own tangles into this design. I also played with bubble soap and water colors for the background. That was a lot of fun too.

I also worked on Fengle, which was Roy's challenge this week from his Mindful Creation's Blog. Fengle and I have not played well together. But, since I HAD to do it, I kept working on it and all of a sudden it worked! Seems to be the way with some tangles:

A Dare, Bookmarkers, and Maisma

Geneviève Crabe contributed one of her Zendala templates today to Erin's dare from The Bright Owl. This template had LOTS of lines and I started spinning until I remembered that you do not have to include every single line into your tangle. Well, even with those barriers removed, I still managed to add more of my own even after I had removed a lot of the originals:
I also have a trade of vined and flowered bookmarkers that need to be mailed out:

I sprayed the 2" x 6" cardstock before I added the tangles with colored pens. I used Henna Drum, Zinger, Jax, Limpitz, CatKin, Rose and Barberpole. Then, I added some Copic markers for highlighting and shadows.

The TOW for this week was to use Maisma by Linda Dawson. Take a look at Linda Farmer's Tangled Patterns Site. I felt "boxed in" by it, so I went outside the box:

I so appreciate your looking at my blog and appreciate getting your comments. I will, hopefully, be getting my CZT certification soon and am trying very hard to get my work to be worthy of the title. I don't feel that my work is as neat as I would like so I try to make up for it in originality. I'm not sure that is a fair exchange though LOL! How I so admire all the real talent out there. I love how everyone shares so willingly in this tangled community!

Hi-C and Angle Fish

This week, Roy from Mindful Creations asked us to do Hi-C from CZT® Anita Roby-Laver. This is a great tangle, but I was unsure how to use it as a monotangle. The first one, I did "inside out", and couldn't figure out what was "wrong" for a second. I liked it but decided to try again. I think I like the second one better where I did right way then inside out again:
I also finished a TOW for my Yahoo group where we  used CZT® Marizaan van Beek’s Zentangle® pattern: Angel Fish. I really like the simplicity of this tangle:

Dare #56, Bunny and Birdies

Erin, at The Bright Owl, challenged us to do a tangle with only pencil. I found myself forgetting and making a mess of smudges all over my once white paper. It was an interesting challenge though:
I had a great time yesterday with a group of tanglers. We all worked on tangling using stencils. Oh, how that has opened up another door. Look on the Internet. There are billions of stencils, coloring book pages, etc. free for the taking.

Nzeppel and a New Backpack

This week, Roy at Mindful Creations, asked us to do Nzeppel. Wow! Looks so easy but it was making me crazy. Roy's looks so calm and peaceful. Well, as much as I would like to be that, it's never going to happen. This is what I got:
Then, you may know that when you have a Kohl's 30% off coupon, well, you just HAVE to shop. So, I got myself a backpack in canvas and then ran over to Michael's and picked up some Tulip Fabric Markers. This is what I came up with: (The star is on the back.)

Dare Number 55 - Starting the Countdown

How did it get to be May already? I am now in count down mode as I am retiring on May 31! I can hardly wait to have the time to tangle away endlessly. (I don't have to cook, clean, shop, do laundry anymore, do I?)

I am using up my "sick" days so I have taken today off and have enjoyed some tangling time. I just finished Erin's Dare for the week at The Bright Owl:
This time, I used a light box to only use the lines I wanted. Humm, it still looks like I used most of them anyway!
