Circles, an Inchie, and Zentangle® Meets Art Journaling

Verve, Inapod, Hibred, Snail, Emingle
This week, the Dive Challenged us to use circles. Since, in the USA, we are celebrating Memorial Day, I thought I would ignore the Zentangle police banging on my door for using a compass and pull out some red and blue pens LOL! I couldn't resist putting some non-Zentangle stars in there and some Distress Ink in Barn Door too :)

For this week's Every Inchie Monday, the prompt was "Killer". My first thought was, well, you ALL know the headache I am talking about:

I know some of you follow my art journal blog as well, but since our prompt this week was to use a Mandala, I thought I might share that picture here for those who do not.

Zentangle® Rain Challenge, Inchie, and a Thank You!

Well, as they say, you could have knocked me over with a feather! I won the Diva birthday giveaway for The Book of Zentangle® by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. What a great surprise! Thank you, Laura!

This week, Laura Challenged us to use the official tangle pattern Rain. I love Rain but seldom use tangles that use up lots of ink, cheap as I am LOL! So, it was nice to be pushed into using it.

For this week's Inchie, the prompt was Jolly-boat. As you know, I like to mess with the word but this one was plain and simply a type of ship's boat in use during the 18th/19th century. So I stuck with that but at least made mine really "jolly"! I can't wait to see, after posting, what others came up with for this one.

Zentangle® a J, Punzel and Well, and an Inchie

I had an extra tile that I had already traced the letter "J" on for a previous swap and I decided to play with it. I happened to have one of Suzanne McNeil's tangle books with me and used some of her fun tangles. Unfortunately, I forgot to write them down :( So, here it is anyway:

The Diva has a birthday today. If you have not visited her blog, please do so and wish her a happy one. This week, she challenged us to use Punzel and Well as a duo-tangle. They both require a bit of concentration; but, isn't that the point of Zentangle?
And my poor Inchie goes last this week as I just couldn't get a good picture of the poor little thing. This week's word was "Jet". First thought, jet airplane = dismissed. Second thought was Jet Black. I liked that one. Once I started thinking more about it, I decided that Jet Black = Black Jet. I actually embossed this little plane with black embossing powder, and in person it looks so shiny and pretty. Not so in the photo. I scanned and took a picture but here is the best I could do. Use your imagination:

Zentangle® a Diva Challenge, an Inchie, and ANOTHER New Blog!

The Diva has come up with another wonderful tangle, yet to be named, that we got to play with for this week's UMT (Use my Tangle) #166. It is simple, yet it has so many possibilities. Hop over to her blog and give it a try. I think you will like it.

The Inchie gave me a bit more difficulty as I really enjoy searching for something no one else will think of. Often I am surprised at how many think like I :) Anyway, the prompt for this week was Indigo. Well, it certainly is a lovely color, but I was looking further and found that there is such a thing as "Indigo Children". I wound up down a rabbit hole (which happens to me way too often) and by the time I looked up, hours had passed and I had learned about something new. This isn't for everyone, I suppose, but I found it interesting.

And a couple of tangles I did while I was giving a demo at Hobby Lobby last Friday:
Camelia in grid.

Tan tile that I cut of my own paper done with Sepia pen, white gel pen, white charcoal, and the reddish is a Pitt Pastel pencil. As you may know, last week I played with Camelia without the grid but I decided I should play nice and give the grid a chance. I actually like it this way and I am surprised. What a versatile tangle it is.
Mooka, Jetties, Fescu, Zinger

Another on my own tan paper with the same shading.
Quib, Squid, Footlights, Dex, Rain, Tipple

Back to our roots on this one. I actually used a string (Hollibaugh) and I don't usually use a string as I find them a bit choppy looking sometimes. (At least when I do them LOL!)

Thanks for stopping by. Please take a peek at my two new blogs. One for my Copics and color work: http://tanglestreetcolorway.blogspot.com/
and one for my Art Journaling: http://tanglestreetjournals.blogspot.com/

Both have tabs, as does this blog, to make it easy for you to hop back and forth. I love all the comments you leave. It makes me so happy, and thank you all :)
