Zentangle® a Card with Aquafleur

Short and sweet this week. The selected tangle at I am the Diva this week is Aquafleur. I have a very special fondness for this tangle as it was the one presented at my CZT training four years ago. Who couldn't love something directly learned from the masters?

Copics, Stamps, and Die Cuts Used

I stamped the image with a light colored Momento Ink in pink. Added the Aquafleur using a Copic Multiliner in pink, then added the Copics. The background was created using a Gelli Plate, and some clear sequins were added. The butterfly and the blue paper are popped up for dimension on this shaped card.


The focus tangle for Square One on Facebook is Flez, by Lori Howe (Sorry, no link as it is posted on Flickr,) I added some Verve and Bunzo.

Zentangle® Some Mac 'n Cheese

This week over at I am the Diva, the challenge is to use our favorite tangles. Our "go to" tangles. Our "mac "n cheese"! Fun and no pressure at all. I selected Mooka, Bunzo, Verve, and Tipple. All my favorites and easy for me to do.

The focus tangle from Square One on Facebook is Nuwave by Beth Snoderly. Again, I played with a variation of Footlights.










And, this week I really wanted to try  making some bubbles with Copic markers. I used Sandy Steen Bartholomew’s Buttercup, Carole Ohl's Footlights, and then added my bubbles for fun.

Zentangle® Zingo, MI2, and Some Copic Fun With Tangles

This week over at I am the Diva, the challenge is to use Zingo. This tangle was presented to us by the lovely Indy and Mazzy, Molly's little darlings. Fun tangle to learn from these really great teachers!
I used a traditional white Zentangle tile, Zig Millennium and colored pencils.

The focus tangle from Square One on Facebook is MI2, by Mimi Lempart, CZT. I allowed a few Hollibaugh boards to slide into this one.

And, instead of my Zentangle journal this week, I thought I would share a couple of pieces showing what a difference just a few changes can make to a finished piece by "breaking" the rules (or just modifying the stepouts).
The tangles used are Floatfest by Carole Ohl CZT, Garlic Cloves by Jacquelien Bredenoord, and Bunzo.
These were colored with Copic Markers. The technique used is called Bokeh.

Zentangle® Your Lemons into Lemonade

So, are you here to see the Diva Challenge? Did you expect to see Dex and Bunzo? What is this, you say. A CZT that doesn't even know how to do Dex?

All right, let's get back to the basics of Zentangle. There are NO mistakes. Are you listening? There are NO mistakes. I always tell the story of Suzanne McNeill (she has written many wonderful Zentangle books and done several fun videos) when I teach. Suzanne was doing a live video. "Oops" she says. Then, she immediately chants the CZT mantra "There are no mistakes in Zentangle, only an opportunity to come up with a new tangle!" Then, she looks straight into the camera and says, "Now you know why I have come up with so many new tangles!" The first time I saw this, I laughed so hard. I love you Suzanne!

Anyway, I do know how to do Dex. But, the phone rang, the hubby needed something, the dog had  to go out.... you know the drill. Concentration lost and when I returned, my tangle just went where it wanted. First thought = throw this out, start a new one. NO!!! Suzanne to the rescue. And so you get.... well, I don't know what, but at least maybe encouragement not to let any Oops get in your way of the true meaning of Zentangle. Relax and enjoy where your pen takes you :)

Square One from Facebook had us doing Cubine, to which I added Brella and a variation of Fracas.

And, the prompt for Every Inchie Monday was Diagram. Remember those pesky English teachers and those annoying sentence diagrams?

Zentangle®, Cubine, Pokeroot, Bunzo and an Inchie

This week, the Diva challenged us to do a duotangle of Cubine and Pokeroot. These are basic beginner tangles but I'll bet we see some masterful adaptations from our talented group.

Square one, on Facebook, gave us Bunzo to work with. I really enjoyed this one. I added some Mooka.

And, over at Every Inchie Monday, the prompt was "Egyptian". The eye of Ra was passed to each Pharaoh and was thought to be all seeing and protected the King by repelling all evil!


 
And, just for fun, I thought I'd share some tiles that I just did for a class I taught using alcohol inks on tiles. If you are local, I would love to do this class again. We sure had fun. Check out my Workshops page above that lists the classes I can arrange for you.

Zentangle® BIG Style, Inchie, Challenge and a Dare

I thought I would start this week with the Diva's Challenge this week, to use one word for the year. I know my word ZENTANGLE! Surprise HAHA!! I decided to do this on a big posterboard so I could take it with me on demos and such.













While I was out, buying posterboard, I thought it might be fun to work on black too. So, I added some of the things that happen once you know Zentangle, like Zendalas, and ZIAs.










Next came the Zendala Dare with a template that just screamed Bunzo to me. I LOVE Bunzo.

Then, came this week's Inchie with Amulet as the word for this week. Add a little of my Copics, some glitter glue, some bling, a variation of Verve and a little stone in the center. Here's to good luck to everyone!
