Zentangle® Drupe, Pokeroot, Batumber, and an Inchie

I Am the Diva has asked us to use a duotangle of Drupe and Pokeroot this week. Being unable to come up with some clever design, I decided to play with my Inktense, a round Zentangle tile, and make a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art).
I love the tangle by Kelley Kelly, CZT, that was selected as the focus tangle over at Square One on Facebook. It is called Batumber (http://thepathuntangled.com/batumber/).
And, for Every Inchie Monday, the prompt word was "Brain"! I'm sure you have all heard of brain freeze. A brain freeze is when very cold things trigger a headache. The real name for it is sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia. Don't forget it. There could be a quiz! Oh, and how I love ice cream! (This was still done one inch size, but somehow I messed up the settings in Photoshop Elements.)

Thanks for stopping by. I love reading your comments!

  2. I think you came up with a very clever design for your Diva tile! It would have been so without Inktense as well ;-)

    1. Thanks, Ilse. I'm curious to see what others come up with. It seemed like there might not be too many creative choices available, but then again, we are a creative group!

    1. Thank you, Chrissie. Didn't you just hate those pop quizzes? I used to write down so much, just in case, that I never really learned much LOL!

  4. Brilliant tangle tiles as usual - love the pokeroot tangle and as ever with your brilliant brain freeze inchie I have yet again learnt something - namely the correct term for it - shall definitely make a note of that in order to appear clever!!

    1. Oh, right, make me look stupid LOL! I will never remember it :) (I can't even spell anymore, thank goodness for the Internet!)

  5. LOL I never knew there was a real name for brain freeze, I must learn how to pronounce it :-) love all your art, from the diva's challenge to the ice cream, what a variety. I like the chains of Pokeroot in your Diva tile.

    1. You all must know that I only copy/pasted that insane word right? I will never understand why they just can't call things by what they are! Every time I call my doctor's office to reorder some pills for the hubby, they ask me the name. And then they laugh as I try to pronounce it. Well, there has to be some levity in a doctor's office I guess LOL! Thank you, YT!

    1. Working in a space of one inch is indeed a challenge. My work is quite simple though compared to the other entries over on the Inchie site. You should take a look, Lorna. Thanks for stopping by!

  9. You know there are people who stay up late making up stuff to try to confound us, right? To baffle us with their brilliance? Didn't know what a Batumbler is, either until now. Quite lovely. Cheryl

    1. Well, Cheryl, it never occurred to me to look up what a batumbler was before your comment. Interesting LOL!

    1. I've never actually gotten a brain freeze, Freebird. But, maybe it is because ice cream is one of the things I eat slowly so I can savor every bit of it.

    1. Thanks, Ria. Inktense colored pencils do tend to be a bit on the bright side :)

  14. Beautiful tiles Jean! I love what you did with Drupe and Poke Root. Those colors really show it off nicely. Batumbler is very different. I can't even begin to deconstruct it. I do like it. One of these days I'll find the stepouts. And I do love your "Brain Freeze" - ummmm excuse me, it should be sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia. LOL The ice cream cone is perfect. Love it.

    1. Melena, Batumber is not difficult at all. Here is the link: http://thepathuntangled.com/batumber/
HaHa! I hope you copy/pasted that enormous label!

    2. Yes, I did copy/paste it. I couldn't remember it by the time I got to typing in the words. Ha ha! Although I think I could pronounce it if I had to (that's my biology background :-D ) And thanks for the link to batumber.

    3. I'm glad you asked because I then saw that I had misspelled Batumber and had added an "L" in the middle as in batumbler! I'm certain I spelled it that way on all the comments I made as well. MUST get new glasses (when I can mortgage my house in order to do so LOL)!

  15. Your Diva zendala is lovely with those 'summer' colors. I too wonder what everyone has done, because like you I think there are not many options with these tangles. Mine is almost ready, just some shading to do.

    1. It certainly pushed us a bit trying to put these two together in a way that might not be the same as the one that Laura came up with. Thank you for your kind words, Michele!

  17. Embarrassed to say I don't even know what Inktense is, but your Drupe/Poke Root zendala tile is very vibrant, iridescent even. With the nice composition, it is very satisfying.

    1. I'm so sorry, Suzanne. BAD teacher! Inktense are water color pencils that go on just like colored pencils, but when you add water, the become very "intense". They have richer pigments than normal water color pencils, so they can sometimes really be too much. I just felt like going a bit crazy this time :)

  18. Very pretty, spring-like DuoTangle for the Diva challenge!

  19. I like the combo blue/orange tones for the Drupe tangle and which helps the greens of the Pokeroot stand out... it also has the effect of making the pokeroot look like little green tomatoes rather than cherries. :D

  20. Brain freeze, oh how I remember that. I really like that spring coloured Challenge tile.
