Zentangle® for Breast Cancer Awareness and an Inchie

Verdigogh, Finery, Angelfish, Cirquital, Tipple
This piece is in honor of Ardath, the Diva's grandmother, and all whose lives have been touched by Breast Cancer. I used a pink gel pen, sprayed with pink Copic marker using an air brush, added some white gel pen and rose madder colored pencil. Go over to the Diva Challenge to read more.

For Square One on Facebook, the tangle for this week was Aquafleur. I did one behind another and added some Yincut to the background.

And, finally, for Every Inchie Monday, the word was 'Umbra". Boy, I just keep learning more and more by doing this challenge. It really applies most to the sun and the moon and shadows, but I was looking at my shadow, umbra, when I had my dog outside in the dark. Spooky!

  5. nice shadow - I love the background - is it the paper or did you colour it somehow? Your pink tile is very nice - I especially like undersea feeling I get from it. I've always loved aquafleur and yours are always done so well, with the sparkle

    1. I sprayed the square with some gray/blue Copic marker first, Kia. I forgot to mention that. I wanted it to look like night but if I did it too dark, the shadow wouldn't have shown up. I love sparkle and always think other peoples look so much better, so I appreciate the positive comment :)

  6. Fascinating trio. So different from each other, each really focused on its own 'thing' - great post, Jean. Axxx

    1. Don't you just love how everyone's work can look so different? I especially like challenges that are less specific, like this one, so we can really jump off and do our own thing. Thanks, Annie!

  7. Your pink creation is magnificent. It's beautiful how you achieved such a lively drawing with only different shades of pink.
    And I love the inchie

    1. Thank you, Omer. I've never been a "pink" kind of gal, but I do like this one for some reason. Maybe for what it represents. Hope and support.

    1. Thank you, Kay. It was quite different working in pink, but I thought it should stay flowing with the pink color.

  9. Love the inchie, how great a job you did. But I truly adore the breast cancer zentangle. Right now cancer is upfront in our families minds with my Mom and my Brother both having cancer, . Great job this week

    1. Thanks, Annemarie. I was kind of surprised at it. I didn't like it at all with just the pink gel pen, but the more color I added caused it to actually soften so I liked it in the end.

    1. Thanks, Diana. There always seems to be something spooky to me about shadows at night. I'm still afraid of the dark HAHA!

    1. Thank you, Donald. I would imagine I would have wound up with something totally different if I had used regular pencil to shade. I may just have to try that just to compare.

  17. Jean, I like your Pink challenge very much; it does have a watery feel. And while your zentangles this week are very nice, I really get a kick out of your inchie; i'm always fascinated by shadows and yours is very neat. Have a brilliant day! c

    1. Thank you. I also find shadows fascinating. I also love dust (how can anyone love dust?) when it shimmers through a sun beam.

  21. I love your pink tile and the delicacy of it. It looks like an underwater scene to me and the tangles you have chosen seem to be waving in the gentle movement of the water. Beautifully done!
