Zentangle® on a Beautiful Amanda Day

Happy Amanda Day! Do go read about it over at I am the Diva! For my Earth Day project, I thought I should make complete use of a tile and do the back as well. The red square logo prompted me to use a red gel pen and continue the squares, overlapping them. Then, I added Sez, Rain, and Tipple. I used a bit of rainbow colored pencils as well.
The focus tangle for Square One, Facebook, is to use CZT Beate Winkler's Funbee. I thought it went well with Mooka and a bit of Beadline.
This week, I am sharing a journal page where I explored a bit of Tipple and Rixty. Tipple was one of those tangle that I just didn't like until I ignored the step-outs. I have loved it ever since.
Thanks for stopping by. I do love reading your comments!

Zentangle® Some Mac 'n Cheese

This week over at I am the Diva, the challenge is to use our favorite tangles. Our "go to" tangles. Our "mac "n cheese"! Fun and no pressure at all. I selected Mooka, Bunzo, Verve, and Tipple. All my favorites and easy for me to do.

The focus tangle from Square One on Facebook is Nuwave by Beth Snoderly. Again, I played with a variation of Footlights.

And, this week I really wanted to try  making some bubbles with Copic markers. I used Sandy Steen Bartholomew’s Buttercup, Carole Ohl's Footlights, and then added my bubbles for fun.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I always enjoy reading your comments!

Zentangle® Remix, Merryweather, and an Inchie

This was an interesting idea from I am the Diva. Laura had us digging through our old tiles to do a "Remix" and see what we came up with. I found this old tile, from 2013, of a sad Purk. I tried to revitalize it with Arukas, Molygon, Tipple, and Munchin. The only change I made to Purk was to push the original shading around a bit more.
Original 2013 tile

The focus tangle from Square One, Facebook, is Merryweather from CZT Sandy Hunter. I kept it simple and true in the center and then let myself wander as I reached the edges.

Finally, Every Inchie Monday's prompt word is Physics. Now, maybe I've really gone off the deep end on this one, but when I was a child my mom had to take physics. It is an old word for laxative LOL!

If you have a moment, I would most appreciate it if a few of you would go to this link and vote for my Copic colored coloring book page. Dover has a contest and voting goes until the 30th. I just entered it yesterday, so I probably have few votes, if any. Thank you.

Thanks for stopping by. I love reading your comments!

Zentangle® Some Tipple, Meer, and an Inchie

The Diva posted her last challenge before her summer break; however, I am looking forward to some guest challenges in her absence. This last challenge was to use Tipple. Tipple was a tangle that I really didn't like for the longest time. I thought you had to go all around a string section and then fill in, almost forced like a grid. When I allowed Tipple to just float and fall, I fell in love with this tangle, and you will see it often in my work. Rain is the tangle that the Tipple is spilling through.

Square One, Facebook, had Meer as the tangle for this week. I find that Meer can be another confining tangle if you let it, so I allowed it to expand and have a bit more freedom. I added a tiny Verve in the top corner for some additional interest.
And, the prompt word for Every Inchie Monday this week, is Enjoy. There is a song by Martin Lee Gore called Enjoy the Silence. I sure know that after years of working in a noisy environment, I sure do enjoy the silence.

Thank you so much for stopping by for a look, and I always enjoy reading your comments!

Zentangle® in Full Color, Flux, and an Inchie

Did you all miss me? I notice that hardly anyone comment on last week's post even though I prepared it ahead of time to post while I was gone. Anyway, hubby and I are back and I have been busy trying to catch up on all my emails LOL! Coming home from a "vacation" is exhausting. We love steam trains, and so we celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary (If you married a toad, keep going until you find your prince. I finally did!) by taking a train up in Colorado and New Mexico. It was absolutely perfect in every way :)

Now, let's get on to why you're here. You want to see the Diva Challenge for this week, which is to use the colors of the rainbow.

I used my Sakura Gelly Roll pens on a black tile. I shaded with colored pencils and added some white gel pen accents.

Or, maybe you're here to see this weeks tangle from Square One, Facebook, which was Flux. I added a bit of Rixty, Hollibaugh, Tipple, and a partial aura.
Then, again, you may be here to see the Every Inchie Monday square with a prompt word of "Etna!" Did you know that there is an is a fictional character who appears in the Disgaea series of video games? Well, me neither, but in my quest to learn new things, I found out!

I'm happy to be home and hope you all come back and leave me some of your much appreciated comments!

Zentangle® with a Stencil

The Challenge from the Diva this week is to use a stencil as a string. Being an art journalist and card maker means I have LOTS of stencils. I chose one from TC Designs. I used Quib, 'Nzepple, Crescent Moon, Ibex, Knightsbridge, Betweed, and Tipple.

For Square One on Facebook, the tangle to use was Man-O-Man, to which I added Festune and Verdigogh.

And, Every Inchie Monday had a prompt of "Gecko!" Did you know that a mechanical engineer has come up with gloves for humans that mimic the sticky pads of a gecko's feet to allow for vertical climbing on smooth surfaces? Here is an interesting article about it.

Zentangle® Nipa and an Inchie

The Diva is taking a well deserved three day weekend for Easter, so no challenge to post today. I will simply edit this post tomorrow, Tuesday, so you can come back and see whatever she has in store for us.
EDITED:
Here is the Diva Challenge for this week. She has posted a Use My Tangle from Susan Goetter, called "Fanz" which I filled with Hibred. Kind of wonky, but I don't fight my tangles. If you insist on fighting what it wants to do, you are no longer doing Zentangle which is about relaxation and enjoyment. Don't fight your tangles and simply enjoy the process!
The Square One from Facebook, was to use Nipa. I added Msst and Tipple.
And, the prompt for Every Inchie Monday was "knitting". Well, as a knitter, you'd think I could stay normal for this one. NOT, LOL! So, I had to go with, when you break a bone, your body heals it by knitting the two pieces together. Such clever bodies we have and so very smart too!
Thanks for stopping by. I really enjoy sharing with you and reading your comments!

Unbatz by Sandy Hunter, Sez and an Inchie

It's the first Monday of the month, and so the Diva Challenge was to use Unbatz, by CZT Sandy Hunter. This was a fun pattern that allows for many variations, if you're willing to look for them, as you know I always am. I added some Meer, Chartz and Tipple.

The tangle chosen for this week at Square One on Facebook was Sez that I paired with Rain.
And, finally, for Every Inchie Monday, the prompt was Love. Even I didn't want to mess with love LOL! Just a tiny quilled heart with a jeweled heart.

I appreciate all your comments and try to respond to each one. I apologize to those whose blogs I am unable to visit in return. I seem to run out of time each week. Can anyone else relate?

Zentangle® All Dolled Up, Ing, and an Inchie

Emily Classon, CZT, is the guest host over at I Am The Diva for challenge #196. The prompt is "all dolled up". This is indeed a fun one for me. I love doing tangles on clothing and I have quite a collection of dolls and doll stamps and such. I have no idea why then that this odd character jumped out of my pen today, but she did.  I used a manilla tag to work on.
Don't you just love her dangle earrings? I used Paradox, Nekton, Tipple, Crescent Moon, Meer, and Hibred.

For Square One, the tangle was Ing. I, of course, had to mess and soften one of the angles. I did some "real" ones on the edges just in case you might think I really don't know how to do these tangles. Then I added some Tipple and rounding for some drama.
And, finally, for Every Inchie Monday, the word was Xenon.  As I researched the word, I settled on the fact that xenon is used in fancy headlights. Headlights I understand, and I got to do a bit of quilling too.
White circles with a thin blue then over both with black and glued to a black 1" paper with white gel pen accents.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Zentangle® for Breast Cancer Awareness and an Inchie

Verdigogh, Finery, Angelfish, Cirquital, Tipple
This piece is in honor of Ardath, the Diva's grandmother, and all whose lives have been touched by Breast Cancer. I used a pink gel pen, sprayed with pink Copic marker using an air brush, added some white gel pen and rose madder colored pencil. Go over to the Diva Challenge to read more.

For Square One on Facebook, the tangle for this week was Aquafleur. I did one behind another and added some Yincut to the background.

And, finally, for Every Inchie Monday, the word was 'Umbra". Boy, I just keep learning more and more by doing this challenge. It really applies most to the sun and the moon and shadows, but I was looking at my shadow, umbra, when I had my dog outside in the dark. Spooky!

Zentangle® Rainbow Style, Pendrills, and an Inchie

Color! I do love color, especially when I get to play with my Copic markers. So, when I saw today's challenge from the Diva and the word "rainbow" was there, I had to jump in. I used my air brush to make the rainbow and then I did use the letters requested: LGBT =  Laced, Girdy, Beadlines, and Tipple. This tile is in support of National Coming Out Day. More details at the Diva Challenge.
For Square One on Facebook, we worked with Pendrills. I ended each one with a Zinger. Does anyone know the name of the tangle that looks like washers? I know I've seen it, maybe one of you?
And for Every Inchie Monday, the prompt was "Thistle." Did you know that, although a weed, is the emblem of the Scottish nation? I pulled out my gel pens for this one.

Zentangle® Stripes, Bronx Cheer, and an Inchie

I never look at others' tangles before I post mine. Why? Well, if I see how wonderful they are I might be too intimidated to post my own, or I might feel like I have to go back and redo mine. I know, silly, but it is a flaw of my nature that I just have to work with, and not peeking is how I do it. Those of you who use blogger will know that when you open it up, the first thing it shows you is recent posts from those on your blogroll list. So, I open mine up to post and there is, where I can't miss seeing it,  LeeAnn's entry for this week's Dive Challenge and it, as always, is so gorgeous that my mouth dropped. Sigh.... I will post mine anyway LOL!

I used Beeline, Ambler, Hibred, Tortuca and Chartz. What's the difference between Ambler and Emingle? In Ambler, the pattern moves clockwise whereas with Emingle the pattern repeats.

For Every Inchie Monday, the prompt was "Quartz Crystal".  I started thinking about quartz. Did you know it is said to have powers? Like a crystal ball? Gel pens on black and I used some Glossy Accent over the ball to give it depth. I looked into my crystal ball and saw more time on the Internet, my studio getting more and more stuffed with things I need, and a lot of happiness.
What do you see in your future?

And, I have joined another group on Facebook for people who really want to do traditional Zentangle tiles. It is called Square One: Purely Zentangle®. So, I will now post my weekly entry for that group as well. This week, we were to use Bronx Cheer as a tangle, not as a mistake cover.

Zentangle® a Spill and an Inchie

The Diva Challenge this week is hosted by Amy Brody. I was lucky enough to meet her and her adorable daughter at CZT11 training. Her challenge was to have a "spill" on our tile and tangle on. So, I grabbed my coffee cup and dripped some on my tile. My hubby makes kind of weak coffee, so it didn't do much. Ahah! We had company last week and there was some left over Sangria in the fridge. I liked this spill better.
Coffee----Sangria
After I tangled, using W2, Ixorus, Diva Dance, Tipple, and IX, I decided to shade with colored pencils and just a touch of regular pencil. The stain kind of disappeared with these heavier tangles. They do show up more in person rather than a scan though.
The prompt for Every Inchie Monday was "Navy." My original list had it spelled "Navi" which was very interesting, look it up. But, I went with the current spelling and thought of the branch of the military service, and sailors. Did anyone else have one of these "sailor" blouses? I had both the blouse AND a dress!

Zentangle® a Comfort Tangle, and an Inchie

This week, fellow CZT, Sharla Hicks, stepped in to help the Diva. She asked us to go back to some of our favorite tangles and mess with them in size, shape, color and/or shading. What's not to love there? (She also added some great tutorials. Go to the link and follow to her blog.) The first one I did using a modified Verve with pointed ends and larger Tipple surrounded by the typical smaller ones. I used Derwent Inktense and applied some of the concepts that I am currently learning about with watercolors. It seemed to be missing something, so I added some grey colored pencil. Then, I went on to number two. This one I took Verve and Printemps and squared them using a Sharpie Ultra Fine in Turquoise. I then found an old pastel pencil, CarbOthello, #51 to do the shading. I liked this one a lot more, you?

The Inchie, from Every Inchie Monday, was to use the prompt Maid. Well, Minute Maid orange juice, of course :)

Thanks to all of you that always take the time to leave me a comment and welcome to anyone who is new. I love to hear what you have to say and I do try to respond to everyone.

Zentangle® Earth Day, An Inchie, and Just Fun

Angel Fish, Cat-Kin, Sanibelle, Tipple
This week, I was lucky enough to teach an Organic and Tangled Garden class. What fun! People seem to really love the freedom of a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) and the flow of organic tangles. We worked on tan pape

Onamato, Verve, Reticulated, Nipa

Jonqal, Sandswirl, Lichen, Quib
While I waited for the class to begin, I played with some ATC's with glitter/paint strings:

HOTdog
Every Inchie Monday's prompt was HOT. Oh, the different directions people will go with this one. I can't wait to look, but I never look until I have posted. I'm afraid if I look first, I will be too embarrassed to post mine LOL!!!

And, the Diva challenged us to create a tile for Earth Day. I had to add a bit of Diva Dance to my tree :)

Happy Earth Day to all and thank you for stopping by!
