The Diva Challenge this week is to use the new tangle Gourdgeous. I used a black tile for this and added a bed of 'Nzepple. I used my Slicci pens to tangle, Conte pastels for shading, and a white gel pen for the dotted lines.
The focus tangle for Square One was to use Verve. Since I use Verve so often, I thought I would see what happens when you start with a square instead of a circle. These squares were turned into Cubine. I also ended the shading with squares to balance out the piece.
Every Inchie Monday had a prompt word of "emotion". This was so interesting to research. Tibetan Buddhist psychology believes that there are two types of emotion: one to express and one to control. Sensible. I also read that some emotions are actually cultural! My image is not original, but it really represented the swings of emotion.
Thank you for stopping by. I love reading your comments!
Love your square verve and the gourdgeous tile nice colours
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Joanne! Fun to play with colors on the black.
DeleteYour gourds look great, hard to do on black I would think. I am intrigued by your comments on emotion, especially the cultural aspect, I must read up on it.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It wasn't hard to do on the black, but check your pens first on the back of your tile. Not all pens will show up on the black. Yes, I wish I had bookmarked the page that talked about emotions in regard to cultural influences. I got so involved in reading all the different kinds of emotion that I failed to do so.
Deletevery nice, i like your tiles
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ulrike!
DeleteI tell you, I like that Gurdgeous tangle. Stood out for me as soon as I received news on it. You did an awesome job on this one, in fact, on both tiles. Love the inchie! Please, please have a look here, we think alike at times: http://tagtuesday.blogspot.com.au/2015/10/people_12.html
ReplyDeleteP.S. I think emotion is all chemical :D
Thanks, Zoe. You are right, we often think similarly. I did look at the tag site last week. It looks like fun, but I am already over my head with three blogs worth of challenges, etc., that I have committed myself to. Maybe someday, I have it bookmarked, as I do love making tags too.
DeleteAre you using pastels? It looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks, LeeAnn. I thought I would play with different colors this week, so I did grab a couple of pastel pencils.
DeleteOops I just read and of course they are!
ReplyDeleteNice job on Gourdjous! I struggle w/ it.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cheryl. Don't overthink it as a gourd. Just do a curved line and then add Diva Dance to round out the shape every other aura.
DeleteYour Gourdgeous tile looks very artistic. Nice!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Ilse. I appreciate your comments always!
DeleteGreat squares & the "comedia del arte" style face masks are inspired :-)
ReplyDeleteSally
Thanks, Sally :)
DeleteYour Diva challenge is a success! I really like the dotted lines!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Jennifer!
DeleteI really like the way your Gourdgeous "gourds" turned out and I haven't seen everyone's posts yet, but I bet the greens and blues will reflect you thinking outside the proverbial box. Moi, of course, stuck with fall colors because I'm waaaay too literal that way. You also picked the right media to get your colors to glow on the black tile. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Suzanne. I picked the colors that worked on the black :)
DeleteLove the gourds and the inchie, love the colors of the work you did this week
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Freebird :)
DeleteI like the dotted lines in your Gourdeous!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Annemarie. I thought about filling with the white but then the first mark skipped and I decided to just go with what the pen was asking for!
DeleteA pleasure and a learning experience to visit today, Jean. LOVE your Gourdgeous tile and your square Verve is inspirational. Love your little Tibetan story at the end and the Inchie it inspired. Axxx
ReplyDeleteAnnie, thank you so very much for your kind words!
DeleteI love your Verve tile!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Melissa!
DeleteWonderful tiles. Gourdgeous is lovely and I love the pastel shading. Quite nice. (I, too, will have to research "emotion")
ReplyDeleteI think you will find out some interesting things about emotion, Dragonfly. Thank you for stopping by.
DeleteNicely done, i found the new pattern gourdgeous, but i was not capabel to make it nice...
ReplyDeleteNot every tangle is good for everyone. There are many tangles that I can't make "look nice" either. But, Carmela, there are so many tangles to choose from that we can just skip the ones we don't get along with :)
DeleteWhat fun! I really like what you did.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Devin!
DeleteWonderful pieces this week again! Your Gourdgeous tile is wonderful with those colours. Also I like your unusual variation of Verve ... what a great idea!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Annette. I'm thinking this would be fun to try with rectangles, stars, or other odd shaped centers too.
DeleteAll three are lovely :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lily!
DeleteSnap - we used the same inchie idea - love the fruits of your research that you share with us - well done
ReplyDeleteMust be that "great minds" thing, Kia LOL! Thank you.
DeleteNow you have me thinking, Jean! Your insight into emotion surely deserves more in-depth study along nurture-nature lines. It's like the Inuit have 12 different words for snow and the Navajo have similar numbers for rain. The Diva tile is luminous with the colours you selected. Have a brilliant day! c
ReplyDeleteAnd, how many words do we have for green or blue? Maybe we just have more words for what is important to us? It is very interesting though. Thanks for stopping by, Cheryl, and for making me think even more.
DeleteWonderful inchie and amazing artwork as well
ReplyDeleteLove Chrissie xx
Thank you, Chrissie!
DeleteLovely tiles!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sidney!
DeleteBrilliant inchie!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Trillian!
DeleteNice take on the square Verve and I really like the colors on the Gourdgeous tile. Your inchie is fun...great representation of emotion!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Lezli :)
DeleteYour Diva is very cool, Jean!! Already for Thanksgiving!! :) Lovely!! :)
