Laura, from
I am the Diva, has challenged us to use Auraknot and Meer as a duotangle. Trying to come up with something unique for this one wasn't easy as Auraknot is quite distinctive in nature. I decided to go huge with Meer and let it hug the Auraknot. Still playing with black. I used a Slicci silver and a Prismacolor metallic purple and silver.
The focus pattern from
Square One, Facebook, is to use Abeko, a tangle from
Lynn Shelton Meed. I really got to push this one quite a bit.
And finally, for
Every Inchie Monday the prompt word is whale. Whatever you are doing today, I hope you are having a whale of a good time!

DeleteTerrific artwork. Always great to see your projects and the inchie made me smile
ReplyDeleteLove Chrissie x
Thanks, Chrissie. I just got back from your blog where I thoroughly enjoyed the journey you took!
DeleteHi, Jean,
ReplyDeleteI like both your tiles, especially the way you drew Abeko. Gave me some inspiration, as I haven't done the Square One challenge yet. Also love the cute little whale!!
Joyce
Thank you, Joyce. I appreciate your sweet words!
DeleteThat is one seriously cute whale!
ReplyDeleteSally
Thanks, Sally. He kind of makes me smile too :)
DeleteLove your inchie, it made me smile.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Wendy!
Deletejean, great color combo for your Diva Challenge. Black tile was a plus! 👍😀
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Patty!
DeleteDiva challenge tile is charming and I love the metallic pen work:) Adorable whale and the Inchie tile looks like it could be a beautiful ocean creature too!
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying those metallics too Jill. Thanks.
DeleteI really like how you're using the black tiles. Worked great for the Diva Challenge, and I love those colors. Okay, time for more black tiles. I just went to check out Abeko. A very intriguing tangle for sure. I will have to add that to my tangle stash. I love the whale - it is so cute. I have to admit I had a "Whale of a Good Time" this weekend - went to my 50 Year High School Reunion - What? did I say 50? Oh my. Yes, it has been that long. But today I'm resting and relaxing. I don't do those 4 hour one way drives very often any more, especially I80, I5 and Hwy 99. Ugh. :-D
ReplyDeleteShhhh, I'm really using a black notebook, Melena. I got one for $4.00 and then got 40% off that too. I just take a photo and crop it to look like a tile, LOL! I know what you mean. Mine was last year...horrors! I didn't go though since mine was across the country.
DeleteMeer that hugs the Auraknot is an original idea, the metallic colored pens used on a black tile give a very nice result. I love the pattern Abeko, it is drawn very pretty with this subtile shadow, like that very much and your inchie Jean; it is always funny to see (I'm fond of whales and I am a lucky person to have seen them a few times in real life on the Azores)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ria. I got to see whales a few times on trips to see a friend in Oregon. They certainly are magnificent animals!
Deleteas always funny and very creative solution to the challenges.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and leaving a comment, Didish. It is always nice to hear from you!
DeleteOh the wale is so cute! I love the combination of the Duotangle, it is so unique and artistic. And again a black one! Maybe now I really will try one, too:)
ReplyDeleteKind of on a black kick right now, Simone. I just got back from the store where I purchased some Derwent Metallic pencils, so I'll bet you'll see even more!
DeleteThree really different styles and ideas this week. I love those colours on the Diva tile. I don't know the Square 1 focus pattern but I feel I want to try it now.
ReplyDeleteYou know, it's funny you say that, Magrat. I kind of thought that they looked so similar and thought I really need to broaden my scope. I like having new tangles, or old ones I have ignored, pushed on me sometimes. There are just so many and yet I seem to fall back on the old and comfortable ones a lot.
DeleteI like the black--it always looks so crisp and classy and Abeko popped up on the "It's a String Thing," I'll be playing with that this week, too. Looks like you're the one having a whale of a good time, Jean! c
ReplyDeleteI always have fun, Cheryl. I have had so much fun with my classes lately since I have some advanced students that love to experiment as well. I also had a large group of coloring book enthusiasts come to a local craft store last week for National Coloring Book day. That was really fun!
DeleteI like the rounded corners of the auraknot, and the purple and black, with white highlights is very cool
ReplyDeleteThank you, HeidiSue.
Deletei love the whale, the catch phrase is great!
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard that saying for years, but it was fun to dust it off this week, Freebird!
DeleteLovely work! I love your play with Abeko;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Michele!
DeleteI like the way you Auraknot is surrounded by Meer, Jean!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Annemarie!
DeleteThat inchie is so cute, and your diva challenge is thinking outside the square. Good work!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Suse. Your comment put a smile on my face :)
DeleteLove both tiles! And your little whale is so cute!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Anja!
DeleteWhat a fun Diva tile....such a unique take on the challenge! Love how you have tangled Abeko too. I look at some of the tangles that you do and marvel at how you are able to make them your own. Your whale is adorable too!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lezli. No one will ever accuse me of doing "beautiful" work, but I do always strive to be a bit unique to make up for that LOL! I do appreciate that you recognize that I do challenge myself (and my students) in that way.
DeleteYour challenge piece has an airy lace-like feel to it, you really pushed Abeko and your inchie is sooo sweet!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Daniele!
DeleteYour take on Abeko is really unique and distinctive!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Julie!
