Zentangle® With Hearts, Kofeforn, CoffeeCups, and Companion

Guest, Jessica Davies, CZT, over at I am the Diva, has suggested we use hearts this week in our challenge. I happened to have out my Oxide Distress Inks and my stencils for some card making that I was doing, so I started with that. Then, I thought that I should use a tangle from Laura herself to fill the hearts, so I selected Kofeforn, a tangle I had not yet used before. O tangled with a purple Copic Multiliner and shadowed with a dark pink colored pencil. Here's some love to both Laura and Jessica.
This week's focus tangle on Square One, Facebook, is a tangle from Simone Hassel called CoffeeCups. (This is a Pinterest site, so I'm not sure you can see it if you are not a member.)
And, for even more color, but this time with Copics, I used Companion by Carrie Liao.
Thank you for stopping by. I enjoy each comment thoroughly.

  1. Lovely work, Jean! Your hearts stand out and you did a great job with Companion. I haven't tried that one yet, but it looks like I should give it a go as well ;-)

    1. My guess is that there a lots of us who don't favor hearts, Anita. Challenges are great to push us sometimes. HaHa, yes those CoffeeCups may have been pushed perhaps a bit more than they should have, but I always show what I have done and don't go back and redo things that didn't turn out exactly as I was thinking :)

  4. Your hearts are wonderful, Jean. Simplicity itself and very colorful. And your Coffee Cups are so fun! They don't look all that hard to figure out the sep-outs. Hmmmm, maybe I'd better see a few more first. LOL I really like your Companion tile. I tried it once in my sketchbook, but haven't had time to really use it yet. I love the color you used in it.

I just got mine up and you will be surprised. :-D I used a watercolor technique that you used on a tile and I love it. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Melena. The CoffeeCups tangle, done by most people following the step-outs doesn't look a lot like mine, as you can imagine, LOL! If you look at one of the long ones, by itself, that is kind of what it should look like. I do like to "mess" with tangles, so do find someone else's to try to break down into steps :) I will go take a look at your watercolored tile in a bit. I'll bet it is gorgeous!

  9. I really like the colourful hearts and I can see lots of ways to put the design onto a card. If only I didn't already have a dozen things on the go at the moment...

  12. Your DIVA tile is simple, but does it need more? Colors and the tangle speak for themselves. I also like your Companion tile. I also fell instantly in love with it when Linda published it on her site. Some tangles just grab you massively and won't let go until you put pen to paper.

    1. There are so many new tangles popping up every day, Susie, and sometimes I just don't even want to try them. But, Companion was one that spoke to me as well. I so prefer organic tangles that are free to roam the tile like this one.
