The
Diva Challenge this week is hosted by Amy Brody. I was lucky enough to meet her and her adorable daughter at CZT11 training. Her challenge was to have a "spill" on our tile and tangle on. So, I grabbed my coffee cup and dripped some on my tile. My hubby makes kind of weak coffee, so it didn't do much. Ahah! We had company last week and there was some left over Sangria in the fridge. I liked this spill better.

Coffee----Sangria |
After I tangled, using W2, Ixorus, Diva Dance, Tipple, and IX, I decided to shade with colored pencils and just a touch of regular pencil. The stain kind of disappeared with these heavier tangles. They do show up more in person rather than a scan though.
The prompt for
Every Inchie Monday was "Navy." My original list had it spelled "Navi" which was very interesting, look it up. But, I went with the current spelling and thought of the branch of the military service, and sailors. Did anyone else have one of these "sailor" blouses? I had both the blouse AND a dress!
Happy Monday Jean... and what a lovely TIA you have created with coffee and Sangria... LOL... I am canning beans... does that count??? Will be playing later... started a piece and said I wasn't going to color this week... but this one is a combo piece... so I am going to color... I love the way you have incorporated all yours together... Love it all... Love, Light and Peace...Bonnie
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday to you, Bonnie, and thanks for popping over to leave me a nice note! I remember a game called "don't spill the beans", so maybe you should use some bean juice?
DeleteBoth stains are fun, but the color of the sangria one is great! Love the shading you did with the colored pencil. Cute inchie too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kate. I wonder if Sangria is archival??? LOL
DeleteHello Jean! What a dynamic tile! Isn't it interesting how the "stains" influence the outcome, yet tend to fade away once everything else has been done? Your tile reminds me of a 4th of July picnic along a stone-lined creek, complete with sparkers, and maybe some archery as a diversion!
ReplyDeleteYour imaginative take on this tile reminds me of cloud watching as a child. Do you think children ever look at the clouds anymore? Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment, Amy!
DeleteBoth they are lovely I like them :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lily :)
DeleteI love how you let the shape of the stain guide you. The light color of the sangria adds an interesting effect to the tile. Great tile and a lovely inchie!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anoeska. Your tile, with the dark red wine, sure showed up better. Next time we have red wine.....
DeleteYour Sangria tile is lovely. So far I haven't found anything that stains and leaves my paper workable! (I don't have tiles.) The middy blouse is a great idea - very nautical and navy inspired.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kia. Just let whatever it is dry and you should be good to go even if you have to pull out your iron LOL! A middy blouse. I forgot that it was called that. Thanks for the reminder.
DeleteVery beautiful and elegant. i love the touch of color here. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Carmela :)
DeleteLooks great, Jean, and I sort of thought this would be right up your (tangle) street!! You've picked out the colours with pencil perfectly (is that with your new Derwent pencils?) and your Inchie, as ever, captures the theme so well!
ReplyDeleteAxxx
You're so funny, Annie. Thanks. Oops, I just automatically went for my old Prismacolors :)
DeleteYou draw the dress for my crew. Love your inchie.
ReplyDeleteYup, I did :) Thanks!
DeleteI love the spill zentangle, I just dont see how you can do such depth of work with just pencils. Awesome. Also i never had a navy shirt or dress. But I do remember seeing kids wearing them. I do love that you got the whole thing on an inchie. great job!
ReplyDeleteOh, how I wish I could spend just two hours or so with you and you would be doing magnificent tangles too. Thanks for the compliments.
DeleteGreat navy blouse, and your tangle is lovely
ReplyDeleteThank you, Wendy :)
DeleteBeautiful natural colour tiles! Great idea - dip the tile in. I am about to put the tea or coffee on with heaps of.... tea or coffee. Adorable, adorable inchie :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Zoe. I took the one with the coffee and I dropped some yellow ink on it and blew it around. I really couldn't see the coffee enough. I think it is because, like I said, my hubby makes kind of week coffee. Hope your turns out darker :)
DeleteShow us your quilling, pleeeeaaaaase!
DeleteNever had a sailor blouse, but that is super cute, Jean! Really nice inchie and your tangles are great, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jenn. I think you have to be kind of OLD to have had a sailor blouse HAHA!
DeleteYour tangle is brill - takes me back to my art studies and the processes we used to do. The inchie is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lisette. I used to do this with watercolors with my students too. Maybe using food is more organic? LOL
DeleteHey Jean, it is Lexey; I belong in the yahoo group with you. The way you did the spill is pretty cool; the sangria sticks out more then coffee one. In addition, the inchie you did is exceptionally well! Love seeing your work! Have a good rest of the week!
ReplyDeleteHey, Lexey. How nice of you to pop over and visit me at my "home." Thanks for the kind words and I hope to see you here more often. Make sure to click on the tabs above to visit my other two blogs and see what else I am up to!
DeleteGreat tile! I did have a sailor dress back in the sixties! I have a picture of me wearing it on a date with my husband before we were married. Nice memory!
ReplyDeleteKathy, you should post it for us all to see! Thanks for the kind words too :)
DeleteYum, Sangria! Lovely tile!
ReplyDeleteOh, and it was, Sue. We put tons of fresh fruit in ours and less Sangria. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
DeleteGreat stains Jean, and I agree with you the sangria one is great to tangle on, not to dark, not to light and very interesting in combination with the choosen tangle patterns. Lets toast with Sangria :)
ReplyDeleteYes, let's toast with Sangria, and try not to spill on our tangles :)
DeleteWhat a great colour from sangria, must try it :) Like how you matched your tangles to the shape of the stain and the colour match too. Linda x
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda. Right now I'm working on some tangles using splats of ink. I'll show them next week. They're a bit easier to see.
Deletevery elegant and beautiful, Jean!!! I like the way Ichorus is the origin of it all.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Annemarie. It's a good thing I yank out my list of tangles and do the "blind-stab" method or I would forget to use most of the great patterns available!
DeleteLove that little sailor top!
ReplyDeleteSally
Thank you, Sally. I remember it so clearly. Mine was white with navy and I loved it :)
DeleteBeautiful tile. I love it. It has such a wonderful shape and each tangle is drawn so beautifully!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Jennifer :)
DeleteWonderful tile! Great colour of the Sangria! Especially I like the coloured shadows!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lonetta. I thought using color for the shadows just made more sense with the color already added to the tile.
DeleteBeautiful tile!! It was rather a fun challenge this week!! I love your Inchie! I believe I had one of those dresses and I did have one for my daughter about a year ago. There is something sooooooo adorable when you see a little girl dressed in one of those!! great drawing!! have a great weekend!! :0) Share humanity
ReplyDeleteThanks, Annette. I'll bet she is adorable. I had 4 boys so dressing up was a game I never got to play. That's why I sew for dolls HAHA!
DeleteThe Sangria left a nice wash for your tangles. It was there, but did not overpower the tangles.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Donald. It was lucky we had any Sangria left HAHA!
DeleteNice one, Jean!!! The sangria is prettier as a stain. I like the purple in your tangle!!

Thank you, Diane. I didn't quite pick the right colored pencil but I was too lazy to go back and change it :)
DeleteNicely done. I share the frustration with the scanning process, that tend to flatten the subtle color gradient.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Omer. I'm just glad that we can share our work and learn from each other even if we don't get/take perfect copies. I can't even imagine life without the Internet. Most of my friends live in there HAHA!
