This week, the Diva, from I am the Diva, is traveling through my beautiful country right now. Since both Canada and the USA celebrate our countries this time of the year, her challenge is to use our countries colors. I look forward to seeing entries from all over this world for this one. I usedKoi Coloring Brush Pens for the red and blue and a Sharpie acrylic paint pen for the white (pink LOL!). Simple tangles of Hollibaugh and a variation of Nipa using stars instead of circles. I hope everyone enjoys feeling a bit of pride as they complete this week's challenge.
The focus tangle from Square One, Facebook, is to use Brrst by Kelly Barone CZT, to which I added some Zander.
And the prompt word from Every Inchie Monday is Computer. I can remember clearly the first inkling that I had of the enormous power of the computer, and not in a good way, was from the movie Colossus, The Forbin Project in 1970. Frightening indeed.
Thanks for stopping by. I love reading your comments and appreciate that you take the time to leave one. I do try to respond to each one.
As always, great tiles! Thanks for sharing them. The Diva Challenge tile is really super, I love your interpretation of it. The Square One is also wonderful, using the Merryweather pattern as a centerpiece. I'm not familiar with the movie you named, but I do like the computer-based inchie.
ReplyDeleteJoyce
Thank you, Joyce. At the time, the idea of computers taking over the world was pretty far fetched. Now, hummmm......
DeleteGreat tiles and inchie, it does make you wonder how far computers will go.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Wendy. Probably I don't have to worry about it happening in my lifetime at least :)
DeleteWonderful work! I love the red, white, and blue one best! Awesome! Now have to get to work on my challenges for the week.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cathy. Red, white, and blue has always been a favorite combo of mine. Particularly in my kitchen :)
DeleteI Love both tiles. My favorite is your tile for the Diva Challenge! Stunning!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anja. Must be bold when showing off the red, white, and blue!
DeleteHow clever ti think if changing Nipa's circles to stars :-) This is a really fun challenge. Lovely Facebook tile, I like the way Zander rests around the top.
ReplyDeleteWell, actually YT, I was struggling to try to make this have any tangles at all! I didn't plan on Hollibaugh, just named it after it was done. Then I thought I'd better add something else even vaguely close to a tangle, and stared Nipa was born :)
DeleteDon't know that movie which is odd because I know a lot about old movies (maybe it's not quite old enough for me - lol). I can imagine what it was about though because there are a number of movies with the computer takes over the world theme. Good choice of ideas for your inchie
ReplyDeleteYes, Kia, that movie is kind of between new and old I supposes. Especially for those of us who love watching the really old movies. Another one that was in that same time period, I think, was Andromeda Strain. I have watched that one tons of times and still get worried near the end!
DeleteI really like your red white and blue Diva Challenge Jean. And I agree about your using Nipa with stars. What a great idea! And your Brrrst tile is wonderful. I love how you put Zander in there around them. But your Inchie got me again. I had to laugh. In the 1970's computers seemed so far away and kinda scarey. I didn't see that movie, but it sure turned into a great Inchie. Again you have done some great work.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Melena. You always leave such nice comments :)
DeleteI ended up with some pinkish in my Diva challenge composition, too. ;) However, you caught the spirit of the holiday in your tile. Even had I just seen it without knowing it had any connection to the Fourth of July, I would have felt the patriotic theme. Success.
ReplyDeleteI know how color works, Suzanne, and I should have done the stars first and then gone around them with the color. Or, used some masking fluid to do the stars first. However, I had no idea where I was going to go with this when I started. That's just my style LOL!
DeleteI love your bold colors on the Diva tile. Makes it really pop.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Charlotte. I had done one quite a while ago that was even more vibrant, but I can't remember what I used. That's what happens when you are a collector of things that make color!
DeleteAmazing artwork as always--I love to see your projects. Never heard of the film but what a great idea for this week's inchie
ReplyDeleteLove Chrissie xx
Thank you very much, Chrissie. I always look forward to your sweet comments!
DeleteBeautiful, Jean!!! Especially the Square One tile.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Annemarie. That was a very different tangle and presented a bit of a challenge to find something unusual to do with it.
Deletelove all 3 pieces! Never heard of the colossus but it sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Freebird. That movie would be considered very silly these days. Kind of like the Lost in Space TV show. But, at the time it was thought provoking.
DeleteI do like the tile for the square, very nice composition. I'm sorry to say but I don't know the movies Colossus but I understand what you mean.
ReplyDeleteFor the Diva's challenge: it is very original to make stars on the Nipa and you are lucky: stars and stripes are always lovely!
We do love our stars and stripes here, Ria. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a kind comment!
DeleteNeat tiles & scary thoughts....hummmm! It's quite amazing the routes that our challenges take us down.
ReplyDeleteSally
That's my favorite part about doing the Inchies. Research and learning. Or, sometimes being presented with a memory. Fun stuff!
DeleteBold interpretations all this week, Jean. Never heard of the Colossus movie, but I get the "taking over the world" part! Very patriotic ZIA. Hope you're enjoying the summer. Cheryl
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cheryl. The summer is going by way too quickly for me. I love summer. Hope you are finding some time to relax.
DeleteBeautiful work-all of it! That Diva piece is really outstanding.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Michele!
DeleteBeautiful tiles, as always! The colours in your DIVA tiles are really powerful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Simone :)
DeleteLooks very patriotic Jean, lovely work!
