This has been an eventful week with my computer going belly up last Monday. What fun, she says sarcastically, to try to find all the things I had, remember passwords, get things to work. But, 7 days later, I'm doing okay!
This week over at I am the Diva, Laura showed us the links to the past five year's December posts so that we could choose one. I went to the very first, Simplicity, since I need that right now. It was most interesting to see names there that I haven't seen in years. Well, a bit sad actually. I enjoyed interacting with a lot of them in the past.
Anyway, here is my Renaissance tile using Msst, Zig markers, and Prismacolors. Msst seems to be the "easiest" tangle of all, and simplicity means easy to me.
The focus tangle for Square One, Facebook, is to use Aura-Leah, by Carla du Preez.
And, Every Inchie Monday has a prompt word of "Grin". Well, of course I had to think of the Cheshire Cat since I love anything Alice!
Thanks for stopping by. I know many of you only visit to see the Diva Challenge (I will still post each Monday), so if you don't come back until January, I wish you all the best for this holiday season and I look forward to seeing that you all have a happy and healthy 2017.
I think your Cheshire Cat is spot on because he fades in and out and it's only his eyes and grin you see!! He's great!! But yes like minds!!
ReplyDeleteYup, Jenny. Like minds :) Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteBoth are beautiful. The Diva has great colors, the Aura Leah perfect shading. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Carmela!
DeleteVery interesting artwork. I just love the drips effect and colour mix.
ReplyDeleteFantastic inchie with a grin that is instantly recognised. You are so clever Jean
Love Chrissie xx
It was a lot of fun to stretch this simple design a bit with some color, Chrissie. Thanks for your sweet comment!
DeleteLove that inchie! What a great grin. The use of color with Msst introduces all kinds of possibilities and the shading on Aura-Leah does amazing things with that pattern.
ReplyDeleteThat Cheshire cat, well the whole book, is just an amazing thing. One of my favorites. I am really into using color whenever I can. I know it's not "pure" Zentangle, but it is really my favorite thing to do. Thank you, Melissa.
DeleteFabulous tangles, love the top one especially. Great idea for your inchie.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Wendy.
DeleteYour Renaissance tile is gorgeous! I'm also a fan of your Aura-Leah, it looks 'lovely dramatic' ;-)
ReplyDeleteBlack always seems to add more drama to things, Ilse. Thanks for your lovely comment.
DeleteYour Diva tile proves that even simplicity can have a lot going on if you add those beautiful colors. And really there's no better choice for a grin than the Cheshire Cat! Love him and all things Alice!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Donna. I was just thinking that shading this way might have made a similar impact on a traditional black and white tile. Always fun to experiment. Yes, I am a real Alice fan too :)
DeleteI didn't get to do comments last week, but I wanted to let you know that your Moowa inspired me to use color when I tried mine. However, my Moowas came out looking like colorful cobras doing line dances. If you don't believe me, you can see them here: https://www.pinterest.com/Boomeresque/zentangles-zentangle-inspired-art/ I like seeing that you continued working with color for the Diva's challenge this week. I'm trying to educate myself about it and you are one of my unwitting mentors. My relatively new attraction to color might be a desperate attempt to try to stave off Seasonal Affective Disorder here in Philadelphia, but since you live in the land of perpetual sunshine, you must just like color. Best wishes for a joyous Christmas and a happy and healthy 2017.
ReplyDeleteI did go look at your pretty Moowa, Suzanne, and left you a note as to why yours looks like "cobras". Easy fix. I actually prefer to work with color, bad CZT. I don't teach Zentangle that way, but it is my preference. I spent way too many years in NJ with the dreary winters to not prefer color LOL! It makes me SAD just to think about it. Merry Christmas to you and the Doctor with wishes for a happy and healthy New Year as well!
DeleteI always love to see what you come up with, I love the simplicity challenge. The colors are calming and beautiful. The Cheshire grin is great. Sorry to hear you had computer issues, but glad you are back
ReplyDeleteThanks, Freebird. I had no idea that setting up a computer to work the way you want it to would be such an ordeal! I was hating it for a bit, but I do like it again now.
DeleteYour Msst tile is lovely in its simplicity. The Aura-leah tile is fantastic. Beautiful contrast.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Michele for the sweet comment.
DeleteWow, I love your Msst!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Annemaris :)
DeleteA simple tangle at this time of the year sounds like a must! Cheshire Cat grin somehow also reminded me of a Tim Holtz/Sizzix Halloween die lol!
ReplyDeleteSally
Yes, I know most of us are very busy shopping, cooking, and cleaning. Little time for much else, Sally :) Did you know that Tim lives in a town not too far from me? I keep thinking that I might see him out in the wilds one of these days. What a treat that would be!
Deletelove the colorful Msst...simple is excellent!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Charlotte. I think Msst is so simple and I don't think I've ever done it as a monotangle, but it worked for this week's challenge.
DeleteI love your Msst tile! It reminds me if the Skittles rainbow raining down Skittles for Christmas! Happy Holidays to you! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a delightful comparison, Deanne! Skittles :) Merry Christmas to you as well.
DeleteLovely msst tile, it really works as a monotangle and seems very Christmassy, too! Happy holidays and see you 2017!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lunanista, and happy holidays to you as well. Look forward to seeing you in January!
DeleteLove your mist tile with the colors dripping. :D
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nic, and thank you for dropping by during this busy time for all of us :)
DeleteSo sorry about your computer, but glad that you've managed to work through it! Love how the missst puddles.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jennifer. That was my favorite part of this tangle :)
DeleteLove the colors in your msst! Hate the computer issues... I have had some lately too and it just complicates things! Happy Christmas and a Merry New year to you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate. Finally have it working the way I like. It took a bit of time and a lot of patience. Happy and Merry to you as well!
DeleteWhat a beautiful tile with Msst! I do love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Annette!
DeleteMerry Christmas and happy New Year. It is always a joy to see your original results, thank you Jean!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ria. And, a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too. I always look forward to seeing you pop up in the comment section. A visit from a friend :)
