Zentangle® Cozy Tangled Cups, and Aftican Artist

Guest posters, Juliette Fiessinger and Kellie Fellinge, for I am the Diva, have asked us to think of what cozy means to us and use that in our tangling this week.

My idea of "cozy"is when fall comes, and in the evening, after finishing all the required duties of the day, that a hot cup of coffee is the BEST!
I used Bloom, Strickles, Msst, and Meer. I did turn this into a card for a card challenge. So, if you would like to see what it became, click here.

The focus tangle for Square One, Facebook, this week is African Artist by CZT Tina Hunziker. I let the lines go a bit and focused on the inner seed. Then, I let Squid wander through. Do look up the tangle so you can see what it really should look like :)

Thanks for stopping by. Leave me a comment if you have the time. I truly enjoy reading them.

Zentangle® Msst, Aura-Leah, and an Inchie

This has been an eventful week with my computer going belly up last Monday. What fun, she says sarcastically, to try to find all the things I had, remember passwords, get things to work. But, 7 days later, I'm doing okay!
This week over at I am the Diva, Laura showed us the links to the past five year's December posts so that we could choose one. I went to the very first, Simplicity, since I need that right now. It was most interesting to see names there that I haven't seen in years. Well, a bit sad actually. I enjoyed interacting with a lot of them in the past.
Anyway, here is my Renaissance tile using Msst, Zig markers, and Prismacolors. Msst seems to be the "easiest" tangle of all, and simplicity means easy to me.
The focus tangle for Square One, Facebook, is to use Aura-Leah, by Carla du Preez.
And, Every Inchie Monday has a prompt word of "Grin". Well, of course I had to think of the Cheshire Cat since I love anything Alice!

Thanks for stopping by. I know many of you only visit to see the Diva Challenge (I will still post each Monday), so if you don't come back until January, I wish you all the best for this holiday season and I look forward to seeing that you all have a happy and healthy 2017.

Zentangle® Organically, Zendala, and an Inchie

The Diva's guest, Cari Sultanik, CZT, requested organic tangles today. I chose Pendrills, Antidots (Anita Rob-Lavery), and Cat-Kin (Mimi Lempart). Check out everyone's tangles.
Facebook's focus tangle this week, is Eye-Wa to which I added Hurry and Msst.
Just for fun, my friend Amy, a new CZT (do go visit her blog,) gave me one of her prestrung Zendalas to play with.

And, Every Inchie Monday had a prompt word of "yellow." How much I dislike yellow jackets, or wasps as they are called locally. Here is a yellow jacket in a yellow jacket, so not quite so scary LOL!

Thanks for stopping by. I love reading your comments!

Zentangle® in Full Color, Flux, and an Inchie

Did you all miss me? I notice that hardly anyone comment on last week's post even though I prepared it ahead of time to post while I was gone. Anyway, hubby and I are back and I have been busy trying to catch up on all my emails LOL! Coming home from a "vacation" is exhausting. We love steam trains, and so we celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary (If you married a toad, keep going until you find your prince. I finally did!) by taking a train up in Colorado and New Mexico. It was absolutely perfect in every way :)

Now, let's get on to why you're here. You want to see the Diva Challenge for this week, which is to use the colors of the rainbow.

I used my Sakura Gelly Roll pens on a black tile. I shaded with colored pencils and added some white gel pen accents.

Or, maybe you're here to see this weeks tangle from Square One, Facebook, which was Flux. I added a bit of Rixty, Hollibaugh, Tipple, and a partial aura.
Then, again, you may be here to see the Every Inchie Monday square with a prompt word of "Etna!" Did you know that there is an is a fictional character who appears in the Disgaea series of video games? Well, me neither, but in my quest to learn new things, I found out!

I'm happy to be home and hope you all come back and leave me some of your much appreciated comments!

Zentangle® Some Msst and an Inchie

Hello to all of my faithful followers who are looking for the Diva Challenge. Well, I am writing this way ahead of the 8th and setting it to a "schedule publish" so that I will still have a post on Monday. Hubby and I are going away for a few days and I won't be able to do my usual posting. (We are fortunate to have a good friend that stays here at our house for our pets, so don't think this is a good time to come and take all my pens and pencils LOL!)

Anyway, I do have the tile for Square One on Facebook, using Msst. I added Enyshou and Printemps.
And for Every Inchie Monday, the prompt is Permanent. Does anyone else remember permanent waves? Do they still torture people with them? Do they still "stink" as badly?
I won't be able to make comments or anything else this week, so I do apologize for not keeping up with your beautiful work. See you all properly next week though!

Zentangle®, and Inchie, and Two New Patterns

Beautiful Monday morning and the Diva challenged us to do only straight lines. I decided to just let my pen go wherever it wanted and this is what it did.
I used a straight lined Zinger, Rick's Paradox, straight Shattuck, Emingle, a piece of Hurry, and two of my own tangles that I've named Em 'n Em and Side Steppin'. You will find these step-outs by clicking on the Jean's Way tab at the top of the page. (If either of these patterns already exist, please let me know and I will give proper credit.)

For Square One, Facebook, the tangle for the week is Purk. I added some Fescu and Msst.
And, Every Inchie Monday's  prompt word this week is Envelope. I always think it is fun to push the envelope LOL!
Thanks for stopping by and a special thanks to all of you that leave such nice comments. I enjoy reading each one!

Zentangle® Nipa and an Inchie

The Diva is taking a well deserved three day weekend for Easter, so no challenge to post today. I will simply edit this post tomorrow, Tuesday, so you can come back and see whatever she has in store for us.
EDITED:
Here is the Diva Challenge for this week. She has posted a Use My Tangle from Susan Goetter, called "Fanz" which I filled with Hibred. Kind of wonky, but I don't fight my tangles. If you insist on fighting what it wants to do, you are no longer doing Zentangle which is about relaxation and enjoyment. Don't fight your tangles and simply enjoy the process!
The Square One from Facebook, was to use Nipa. I added Msst and Tipple.
And, the prompt for Every Inchie Monday was "knitting". Well, as a knitter, you'd think I could stay normal for this one. NOT, LOL! So, I had to go with, when you break a bone, your body heals it by knitting the two pieces together. Such clever bodies we have and so very smart too!
Thanks for stopping by. I really enjoy sharing with you and reading your comments!

Zentangle® Spirals, Mooka and Lasso the Moon

Let's play with a spiral, suggests the Diva for Challenge #210. Well, why not? Oh, at this moment I wish I were Helen Williams. Sigh. But, since I'm not, here's my version of a spiral with kind of a Btl Joos, kind of Meer and Msst.

For Facebook's Square One = Mooka to which I added Fescu, Tipple and Fengle.
And, for Every Inchie Monday, the prompt word was Lasso. Do you remember It's a Wonderful Life where George offers to lasso the moon for Mary?

Thanks for stopping by. I love reading your comment!

Zentangle® Hitched, XYP, and an Inchie

It's so nice to have the Diva and her challenge back again this week. The first Monday of the month is another UMT (use my tangle) and the tangle was chosen from Heidi Sue, called Hitched. Do give it a try. I added a bit of Pokeroot and Paradox.

Square one tangle this week was XYP from Sandy Steen Bartholomew. I had some fun connecting these and letting some float away. I added some Diva Dance and Msst.
And, after completing one full year of Every Inchie Monday, a new year starts with the word "egg." This is a great time to join us. Small, easy, and fun. Don't put all your eggs in one basket!

Zentangle® a Challenge, an Inchie, and an Announcement

Gift to Me From Sakura - YUMMY!
Finally I can tell you that I have been chosen by Sakura to represent their products and Zentangle® this year at the AZ Teachers' Conference in November. I had to go through an extensive application process, first through Sakura and then through the AZ committee. It took many months, but I was finally selected. I am so excited. Sakura sent me all the materials (complete Apprentice kit for 26 and much more) I need to teach AZ teachers how to use Zentangle as a classroom tool. I'll let you know how it turns out.

The Challenge this week from the Diva was to use Phicops and Diva Dance as a duotangle. Read all about it here.
I don't know if I already shared this photo with you, but I teach at Hobby Lobby and this was in the corner:
Diva Dance Broom in the Wilds

For the Facebook Group, Square One: Purely Zentangle, the tangle to use was Fescu. I added some Rain, Misst, and Jetties. Looks like I prefer my tangles to grow from the bottom up HAHA!

Over at Every Inchie Monday, they called for "Schedule". As you can see I eat while I "Internet" which is most of my day LOL!

Diva Challenge #181, an Inchie, and a Bonus Zentangle®

The Diva had a relaxing time splashing in the water, so she challenged us to do something related to water. I always think of the ocean and rain = two of my favorite things. I thought I should pull out some tangles I have never used so I went with Agua for the waves and Leau for the big water drops. I added some Msst for interest. Then I used some markers and finished with colored pencils. Not very "Zentangle" but an interesting ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art).

Our Inchie this week, from Every Inchie Monday (Bijou sized tiles, or twinchies, are sooo easy now that I've started working on these inchies!) had a prompt of "quick"! Well, how did we cook before microwaves? Sloooowly :)

And, just for fun, and bit of Verdigogh, Aquafleur, Ahh, and some pearls.

Zentangle® with Bijou, Link to Alpha Tangle Tangled Cards, and an Inchie

The Diva's weekly challenge #179 was "Be like Bijou" the new twinchie sized tile (2 inches) from Zentangle®. I couldn't get the spiral shape of Bijou, the snail, out of my mind, so I just went with it:

Sandy Steen Bartholomew has a new set of tangle cards called Alpha Tangle Tangled Cards that you will just love. Do hop over with the link on her name to find out all about them. She is even having a contest. Just do a tile using official Zentangle tangles and use your name as a string. Here's mine:

Rain, Verve, Meer, Msst

And, for Every Inchie Monday, the word was "privacy"! Wouldn't that be nice? HAHA
Enjoy some quiet time :)

Zentangle® Challenge, Inchie, New Blog Announcement

I have found blogging a challenge when I try to use the pages. They just don't work the way I like; therefore, I have set up a second blog so that those of you who are interested in my Copic marker work and other colorful journeys may do so. Right now, I only have one more blog but intend to make it three so that I will have one for art journaling also. You will always find the links on the top bar of this blog and you can always come back from the tabs on the top of the new blog. My new blog is called TangleStreetColorway. Please take a look and let me know what you think. (This blog is not leaving. I LOVE my Zentangles!)

Back to what you stopped by for! This week, the Diva challenged us to use Anne Mark's tangle pattern, Camelia. It was to be used in a grid, but grids kind of aren't my style, so I set it free. I really liked it in the same way I like Henna Drum. I can't wait to see some of these done by people who can really make things flow. They will be beautiful. (I wait to look until I am posted.)

Every Inchie Monday's prompt was the word "implausible". Now, that's really going to be fun to see what people came up with!

Zentangle® Rixty, St. Patrick's Day Rainbow, and an Inchie

We are having just a beautiful week here in the outer Phoenix area. Warm with a nice breeze, flowers and trees all in bloom. Perfect weather for going outside to tangle!

The Diva challenged us to get our inspiration from St. Patrick's Day. First, I thought of Shamrocks, no, too many will pick that. Then my thoughts went to mushrooms, no, I did that for my Inchie. How about a leprechaun? Right, me draw a leprechaun? Not happening. So, here is my rainbow:
Msst, Crescent Moon, Meer, Tipple, Static, Shattuck on Neocolor crayon rainbow with Copic for sky and grass.

And, my little Inchie from Every Inchie Monday with the prompt "forest":

And, finally, I had to play with the new tangle pattern from Maria in honor of Rick's 60th birthday called Rixty. I had a very small round piece of paper that I grabbed to play on and thought you might like to see it. At this point, only CZT's are supposed to have access to the step-outs. Find one in your area and take a class. Yes, there are lots of books and videos to learn step-outs, but you've missed out on a lot by not taking a class if you haven't; beside learning why Zentangle is NOT doodling, you will have a lot of fun!

A Zentangle®, Inchie, Challenge and One More

Afterglow, CO2, Msst
I'm still running a bit behind. Isn't it amazing how a few days away really makes such a difference? Well, I finally finished Erin's snowflake Zendala from The Bright Owl.  I really had to think about this one. Not too "snowflaky" but fun:

Laura's Challenge this week was to use Crescent Moon and Diva Dance. What a great combo. This one was a lot of fun also:

Every Inchie Monday called for "Engrave", so I thought I should "engrave" my chop:

And, finally, a tile done for my April Zentangle group using just the letter "C":
Cyme, Changing, Courrant

Thanks for stopping by :)

Dare # 75, Alice Gets Lost in Wonderland

In week's Zentangle class, my students worked on tangling gardens. Do check out their work on the "Workshop" tab above. I did one of my own by "borrowing" an Internet coloring book picture of Alice and the Cheshire cat and pasting them where I needed them to be in the completed piece on a word document. Then I printed the page out on watercolor paper. Next, I added my tangled garden using pen, ink and Copics.

I thought the pink Mooka looked kind of like the flamingo's used for the croquet game, and Diva Dance worked perfectly for the tree's texture.
The Zendala Dare this week, from Erin and The Bright Owl, was a pretty one. I enjoyed working on it. She also had given us a new tangle to play with called Solow. Do check that out as well.
