Zentangle® on This and That and More

After scanning, adjusting photos and such, I have come to realize that I am spending way too much time on absolutely everything except being retired. I thought I would have down time and just relax; however, I have jumped into every challenge, dare, group, trade and more. Sigh. I know many of you can relate HAHA!
Sunday, was the Zendala Dare from The Bright Owl. We were to do our work around something that we are grateful for. I am grateful for many, many things, but I really treasure my friends. That, dear reader, includes you as I think the Zentangle community is just so friendly and sharing and I do so appreciate that you stop by and leave comments.
Monday, I like to see what the Challenge is from The Diva. We were asked to do something with the New Year. I also had one of my new online friends, Annemarie, share some beautiful coasters she had done and I thought I would try one, so I combined the two together to come up with this:
Coaster

Alice in Blue Inchie

Now, I have joined the world of "Inchies". If you look at the side of my blog, there is an Inchie badge. Do go take a look. Every Monday, we have a new prompt. These probably won't include Zentange, though they might. What fun these little pieces of art are. This is my very first one and we were to do "Alice in Blue". Out came my Copics for this one!

Then, of course, I have my Yahoo trades. One was to use a peace sign, one was for ATC's of dressed snowmen (or women), and one was to use only tangles that started with J for January.
Jilly, Jalousie, Jetties
Jonqal, Jitterz, Jambalee
'nzepple, Printemps, Florz, Zinger
Brayd, Betweed
Florz, Ahh, Eke, Diva Dance
Now, if you think that's not enough, please take a look at my ART JOURNAL page on the tabs above to see the fun I am having slopping paints and glue and anything else I can think of as part of Journal52, a group of art journal enthusiasts who will find time to play with a new page each week. It's not too late to join. I won't post these on my main page, so that those of you who are not interested don't have to look at them, but I will update that page with the new things I am doing with that group and with the pages from a journal that I made and am following from the book Art at the Speed of Life.

  1. At least you are retired and juggling all these fun things. I get to throw in lesson plans and all th other "fun" stuff that comes with still working. Your art work is awesome. I love Alice! She's adorable. All the tangle stuff is great too! I really love the friends template! Now to look at your journal page. I workedon mine today as we had a bad weather day. Lots of fun, but I am not sure it holds up to all the fantastic things I have seen.

    1. Thank you, Cathy. I LOVE being retired. I can't believe how busy I am all the time though. Let's remember not to let that inner critic ruin our fun with our art journaling ( or anything else) and just enjoy the process of play! Yes, there sure are a lot of talented people out there for us to enjoy, but our own work is just so special because it comes from ourself.

  2. Oh, Jean, what a feast of art works! I love them all! I so don't have time to do all of them this week :( Never mind. That Alice is sooooo cute! Good to see you at Every Inchie.
Can I share something else with you that just popped up today? There another challenge blog for twinchies (2" squares). And they just started the year in the same vein as the Monday inchies - a twinchie homework comes out every Tuesday and all the keywords for 2014 re available, same for inchies.

  5. Wow! I guess you are a very busy "retired" lady....I see lots of lovely creations here & I've only got as far as the entry covering inchies & ATCs! I have justed started to follow journal 52 - very little in the way of art supplies here in France with me for the next 11 weeks so I won't really be doing much :-( mostly mulling over ideas I guess!

Glad you join the inchie crowd this week :-)

    1. Sally, do join us for the Journal 52. You don't need much of anything to do it. With a piece of paper and a pencil and pen you could sketch, scribble, and doodle. You can do rubbings of household items, cut and shred newspapers or magazines or junk mail. You can color with tea bags or coffee, kool-ade and such. Just have fun with what you have!

  6. Wise words you siad to Cathy!
I like the zendala a lot Jean, the pink is great in it. Then the coaster, what a great idea to use it for the challenge and it turned out lovely. Do you also tangle on the other side?
I like the others too and especially the peace sign!

    1. Well, Annemarie, I have been around for a long time. I guess that's just wisdom from someone who has been there, done that :) No, I did not tangle the other side of the coaster. I didn't even think to do that. Back to the drawing board HAHA!

    2. HAHA, I went back to do it and found that, it is a habit of mine, I had written the names of the tangles there. However, I do have a huge stack of them that I had purchased from Amazon, so I can just do more. I sprayed it with an acrylic clear spray and it seems to have darkened it just a bit. I haven't actually put anything wet on it. Have you on yours?

    3. Did I tell you that I laminated them after they were finished? When that's done i am able to put wet glases on it.

    4. Oh, now I do remember you had said that. I didn't have any though so I just sprayed. I should get some.

  9. I think the peace symbol is my favorite. And I love how you tell which patterns are in there. I'm always interested to see how different patterns look in different combinations.

    1. Thank you, Ronnie. I have waited, literally a lifetime, to get to the place I am in where I can finally play with pens and paper and colors and glue and pencils, and ................ I have also spent a lifetime cooking, cleaning, shopping, ironing......... I know which one is more fun :)

  15. Quite an array of work. They all look great. I have heard from people that are retired that they are as busy or busier than when they worked. I have not yet had the opportunity to experience that. I think staying active with something is important. That is part of what lead me to Zentangle® to begin with.

    1. I didn't believe it would be that way, but it is true. I gave myself my CZT training as a retirement gift to myself, and what a perfect thing to have done. Yes, Donald, active is very good!
