Zentangle® and an Inchie (Edited to add the Dive Challenge too)

Well, that was scary. I was going to post my Inchie for Every Inchie Monday and my computer told me that my folder, with this whole year's pictures was "unavailable." I searched all over for it and finally went online to see what that message meant and it said that I will experience a hard drive crash very soon. AAKKK!!!! So, I restarted my computer. Still no folder. Then, I don't know why, I decided to look in my trash and THERE IT WAS!!! I don't know how it got there and, usually, I am quite tidy and empty my trash regularly. Phew!

Inchie for today is "Plum" and to be sure, after the past hour I AM plum tuckered out :)

Edited to add the Diva Challenge that showed up after I had posted. I couldn't get past the new skirt that I always got for the start of each school year. It was always plaid. I had to do a ZIA (this kind of looks like boxer shorts though HAHA!) this time.

Zentangle® Zendala, Beads of Courage, and an Inchie

Busy, busy. You think my life? No, I think my tangles! The Zendala Dare from Erin at The Bright Owl was back this week. We are all so HAPPY! Which was our dare, to use the letters of HAPPY if we chose to. Well, I was working on that and I wound up with a very busy piece. I was able to use Hurry, Arc Flower, Paushalov, Pepper variation, and Yincut. I decided to go with a thicker black pen and define some of the  areas, and I think that helped.

You must go over to I Am the Diva and read about Beads of Courage. My husband and I were both moved to tears. My tile is dedicated to Artoo because that little guy is so precious:

And, this week's Inchie was to use the word "Legal". My first thought was a legal pad. I love them. I guess I love all paper, pencils, erasers, pens, crayons, paints, markers... well, you get the idea :)

Zentangle® Quandary and a Mallard

This has been a coloring week for me. Be sure to check out the tab above to see some of my Copic work. Also, take a look at the letter that I sent to CBS along with a lot of other tanglers to try to spread the love of Zentangle.

This week, the Diva challenged us to do Quandary. I use a grid, so it is as easy as Bales for me. I did curve the grid big time to make it look different. It is kind of soft and gentle, not at all like my usual work:

And, for Every Inchie Monday, the word was "game." Well, think of all the places you could go for that one. I haven't looked yet; I never peek until I post so I won't be swayed by anyone's work. I decided to go with a "game" bird, the mallard.

Zentangle® Spiral, Inchie and Dangled Cat

Aprox. 51/2 x 41/2 inches. Wood, painted white, nose with glitter glue, dangles with black pen and colored gel pens. Also, a collar of "gems", a bit of Copic shading and a coat of clear acrylic.

I gave a class yesterday on Dangles like Joanne Fink does and it motivated me to do a kitty on a wooden shape as a sample of what you can do with these fun dangly  shapes. I have more classes on Friday and, if you look at my Workshop/Classes tab on the top, you can see one of the wonderful finished student dangles.

The Diva Challenge #160 was to use a spiral as a string. What fun this one was. I had so many wonderful things going in my brain but I never seem to get down on paper what is in my head. Nevertheless, I like what finally found its way to my tile:

And, for Every Inchie Monday, the prompt was "figure." I got so deep into "figure of speech" and finally settled on Onomatopoeia  (the use of words that imitate the sounds associated with the objects or actions they refer to.). If you like to play with words, here is a great list of the different types of figures of speech. This one is saying "Wake Up!"

I'm still running a bit behind. Isn't it amazing how a few days away really makes such a difference? Well, I finally finished Erin's snowflake Zendala from The Bright Owl.  I really had to think about this one. Not too "snowflaky" but fun:








Laura's Challenge this week was to use Crescent Moon and Diva Dance. What a great combo. This one was a lot of fun also:

Zentangle ® - Inchie, Dare, Challenge

Tidings, Man-O-Man, Ennies

The Diva challenged us to leave some white/empty space in our tangles. That's easier said than done for some of us. I really had to think this one out. Also, I had a student yesterday that really made me think about shading, so I tried doing mine a bit differently this time too.








 


Erin's, I am the Diva, Dare was to include my favorite tangle, Paradox. I managed to squeeze it in to all kinds of places with this template. I particularly like forcing Paradox into places that are made to be asymmetrical.







Inchies. Oh what fun I am having with those tiny little squares of paper where anything goes as long as you can fit it into that one inch square. This week's prompt was "dual" and what else would I think of but my beloved Copic markers with the dual points. This is especially fitting as I am going later this week for two days of intensive training to become Copic Certified so that I can teach others how to use these beautiful markers.

This week's Zendale Dare from Erin was a very different kind of template. I wasn't sure what to put in it, but since the first "birthday gift" to Erin was the pattern Dragonair, I thought I should include it. I also added Knightsbridge and Shattock:

Paradox

I taught a class on using a compass to make perfect circles, squares, and triangles to do ZIA's or perfect Zendala's. Here are a couple of my samples:

And, finally, our Inchie was the word "Chocolate". My first thought was the word itself, then a chunk of the delicious stuff, but finally, I liked the idea of a little boy just stuffing himself with a pile of melting chocolate:

First, the Challenge from The Diva was to do the tangle Aquafleur. I did mine on the new Renaissance tiles and used brown and sepia for the pens and then added some charcoal pencils in sepia, brown and white for accents:








Next up is an Inchie with the prompt of "ballet". I am loving doing these :)

And, finally,  the Zendala Dare from The Bright Owl. I used Laced, Girdy, and a variation of Auraknot.

The Diva's Challenge, #151, was to use the Moebius Syndrome Foundation's logo as your string. Please do look at her post to learn more about this syndrome that her absolutely adorable son has.

Marasu and Bales

My Inchie this week was to use "Brown". This was a lot of fun and I tried several things and finally settled on how you make the color brown. There are many ways to make brown, just browse the Internet, but the simplest is to just use two colors opposite from each other on the color wheel.


I have forgotten to post the work that we did at my monthly group. We were given magnet backed paper and could do whatever we wanted. This is now hanging on my refrigerator. I loved working on this paper because it is soft to draw on and also the pencil blends very nicely:

Zentangle® on This and That and More

After scanning, adjusting photos and such, I have come to realize that I am spending way too much time on absolutely everything except being retired. I thought I would have down time and just relax; however, I have jumped into every challenge, dare, group, trade and more. Sigh. I know many of you can relate HAHA!

Sunday, was the Zendala Dare from The Bright Owl. We were to do our work around something that we are grateful for. I am grateful for many, many things, but I really treasure my friends. That, dear reader, includes you as I think the Zentangle community is just so friendly and sharing and I do so appreciate that you stop by and leave comments.
Monday, I like to see what the Challenge is from The Diva. We were asked to do something with the New Year. I also had one of my new online friends, Annemarie, share some beautiful coasters she had done and I thought I would try one, so I combined the two together to come up with this:

Now, I have joined the world of "Inchies". If you look at the side of my blog, there is an Inchie badge. Do go take a look. Every Monday, we have a new prompt. These probably won't include Zentange, though they might. What fun these little pieces of art are. This is my very first one and we were to do "Alice in Blue". Out came my Copics for this one!

Then, of course, I have my Yahoo trades. One was to use a peace sign, one was for ATC's of dressed snowmen (or women), and one was to use only tangles that started with J for January.

A Zentangle® Christmas Wish and a Dare

This week's Zendala Dare by Erin at The Bright Owl, was a very different template. The rectangles looked like dominoes to me and I was going to do them as such but decided it was too predictable. So I went with Hibred and added Striping and Betweed.

I want to wish all my fellow tanglers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday season for all.

Zentangle with Vitruvius and Boo-Kee

I hope all my US friends had a nice Thanksgiving. We certainly did.

This week The Diva's Challenge #147, was to use Laura's own Boo-Kee in our work. This was a new one to me and I really had fun with it. Lots of people adapted it to snowmen, seasonal, but I had to go elsewhere. I was thinking of my beloved marble collection that I had as a child when I did this one:

The Bright Owl's template for this week also used small circles. Maybe I should have combined them? I'll bet somebody did. I pulled out another tangle that I have never used though, Vitruvius, an official Zentangle with unposted steps. (CZT's get to have all the fun!)

For my group of once a month tanglers, I did one on the new tan tiles:

And, for my sister-in-law, I made a special picture of a dachshund that she requested. I used Copic to color and used an online coloring book picture for the dachshund shape. She loved it!

A Dare, A Challenge, and the Tangle of the Week

I am running a bit behind this week. We were gone for a few days for a friend's wedding. I'm up and running again and have completed the Challenge, Dare, and TOW.

The Diva challenged us to do a tangle called Cruze, by Caren Mlot. This is a fun tangle which I did on a water colored ATC. Trying to kill two birds with one stone, this ATC will go with my deck of cards CZT (Certified Zentangle Teacher) swap.

The Zendala Dare #79 for the week was to do something to thank the founders of Zentangle, Rick and Maria, by doing something that makes us think of them. I am ever so grateful for having Zentangle in my life and I count my CZT training as a highlight of my life as well. I always think of Maria when I attempt Mooka (you must watch this video if you have never seen Maria do Mooka). I say attempt, because once you watch this, you will know why LOL! Then, Paradox is just Rick to me. Probably because his name is on it :)

And, finally, the TOW from my Yahoo group was to use Zinbolic by Patty Meijer. I also used some Antidots and a variant of Crescent Moon:
